Sort of a repost of the other thread sorry BUT....

is the kickdown linkage totally necessary for the carbs? Is there anyway of bodging something together if not?

Can't find any carbs/manifolds for sale with the kickdown link thats on the haynes manual

cheers

cheers think I've found one with the linkage on ebay but the carbs look a bit crappy condition so I'd probably have to rebuild 'em...

- this is from an auto right? (seller don't seem to know!)

The kick down linkage bolts onto the back of the cylinder head and connects to the pivot on the valley where the throttle linkage comes from. The kickdown bracket is not in that picture that i can see.

Hi cheers for that

theres a pic of the auto & manual carbs in me haynes manual & the auto has an X shape linkage which I thought was like the one in pic... obviously not then

Might hold out for a Holley 390 or weber 500...

Might be, pm headin your way!

by the way these are the pics from haynes... look like it is to me :scratching_chin:

The x linkage in the pictures are just throttle links between the carbs. But see where the throttle return spring is on the valley thats where the kickdown spindle goes onto and it comes back to a bracket on the back of the cylinder head and this is where the adjuster is for the cable outer. I have one on my motor that i don't use for an autobox but i still need something there for the return spring to get hold of. Will try and get a picture for you and then you will know what you are looking for.

Thanks mate, don't bother though- I got outbid on them (thank god!)... going for a single holley or weber now. Cheers

Right got a Holley 390... really need an inlet manifold to bolt it to if anyone has/knows of one for sale!

cheers

Well that went tits up, no holley.

Got a pair of SU's & manifold for 25 quid, gonna have to bodge up a kickdown link with the efi throttle.
