Hi all, been following for a while now and I've come across a few issues with my newly acquired stage 1 v8. I'm rebuilding the engine which isn't the original it's actually a 25d efi high comp auto that's been converted to run on strombergs and has a manual lt77 box.

Firstly the engine squealed to a stop due to an oil pressure issue and melted the bottom end shells (crank is fine surprisingly). Secondly I found the head gasket had failed on the two centre cylinders on the left bank (tin gasket) and also had a snapped piston ring which has scraped the bore (honed out fine).

So far I've found all gaskets, new piston kit, lifters but I'm not sure whether to put an efi cam in or to fit a cam from an engine running carbs. My problem is it's a high comp engine and the carb v8 is a low comp.....

Any help greatly appreciated and I'm sure I'll take a bashing for my first post!
