Fairly recent wipers in good condition and all, last night used them in the rain. This morning I saw that the tip of the passenger side wiper has ripped a little exposing a thin metal blade, sort of a backbone for the rubber strip I guess, and this has scored the windscreen! :(:(

Any ideas what I can do? I can just about feel the scratches with my fingernail so they won't just buff out. Should I try using a cutting polish? My gut says that at the very best if it blends the scratch it will do so by removing enough surrounding material to create a slight valley that the wiper blade will not make contact with anymore? My car is normally pretty pristine so this has really upset me.

Please help!

try a professional glass polish,if that does not work take it to a windscreen company and ask them to try and buff it out.

If you can feel it with your finger nail then its going to take hours to polish out I'm afraid:(

If you can feel it catching as you drag your nail across it then it won't polish out without leaving an area of distortion in the screen.

A spring punch is your friend, as long as you've got comprehensive insurance - allegedly.

Thanks for all the tips, and the humour! :) Yeah was afraid of that. Insurance won't pay for this, they will buy me a new windshield in case of a smash but that's a bit extreme. I'll give a go with some very fine polish and see how we go.

Cheers!
