hello.
just wondered if anyone has ever managed to sort out the problems that seem to happen to automatic 300 Tdi EDC engined discoverys.
its when you put your foot down the engine kicks down, starts to pick up then backs off, then picks up then backs off again.
from what ive seen and read , many people seem to have that problem but as yet no one has managed to solve the problem.
my engine has had the pump timimg checked, egr removed (blanking plate fitted) but still the electrics are still plugged in.
new allisport intercooler , rover ron tuning box and a DEcat pipe fitted.
it goes like shyte of a shovel but still keeps backing off all the time.

oh and before i get the usual know bugger alls come up with diesel lift pump or filters , they are all new as well as air filter and cleaned out the sedementer .

if anyone has managed to sort this problem could you please enlighten me .
many thanks.

Sounds like your wastegate is stuck shut. My EDC has exactly the same problem under heavy load (especially steep uphill slogs). The ECU on the EDC engines cuts the power before the boost reaches a dangerous level.

The problem is trying to reach the siezed rod on the wastegate as it's a real pain to get to, I could only just reach it when I removed the downpipe whilst fitting a decat pipe and it was stuck solid. In reality you need to remove the manifold/turbo to work on it on the bench.

Mine is still on my todo list.

I had the exact problem, when accelerating it felt as though you were backing on and off the throttle really fast, as it turns out my issue was with the fly by wire throttle, there's a wire that runs along the bulkhead near the back of the engine that was touching the head and was covered in oil, cleaned it and tied it to a safer place.

Never happened since
