So after being let down by my disco over the weekend (came to it and it would not open with the key fob, used key to gain entry but would not start, 2 days later still nothing) I have decided to get rid of as much of the electronic cr*p as I can.Starting with removal of the fly by wire pump to be replaced with a mech unit.

Will performace and economy be noticably adversely affected?

Gaz

yes as edc is a more powerfull system you will be loosing in theory 11 horses, you will at least need pump, foot pedal and cable ,dont forget to fit kick down cable as well, throttle potentiometer are pricey new, last time i checked a year ago £900 new, dont remove center nut on pump other wise timing will be lost

I have got hold of a bosh err4419 to replace my err6727

Kickdown already there, can I not convert the standard footpedal for a cable?

Throttle pot no longer needed I take it?

Gaz

you could do as does have cable ,just thought pot ecu etc would be sellable ,kick down will need moving to pump with throttle cable

I must admit i had not considered changing my pump for a non edc one,

What will be lost from changing the pumps? apart from the 11bhp

Please keep us updated on how you get on.

by the way, are we talking about a 300tdi?

any update on this?

also can anyone point me to a thread detailing how to remove an edc pump and replace with a mech one?, i have seen a couple but can't find them now.

cheers

Before you go to the trouble check all the earths around the alarm ecu and around the footwells, clean them up and grease/oil them. I've had the same trouble with mine in the past and this solved my problem

Just seen how old this thread is.......probably no help by now

So you are going to start by removing something that has nothing wrong with it - and rarely has...
The fact that the fob does not have comms with the alarm ecu,(Which is where your problem is) is just going to mean you will complicate the issue further - after spending lots of time and effort.
Did you try inputing the EKA code into the car ?
OOOPPSS....
