****ed turbo??

my 2000 2.5 dhse range rover has started 2 loose some oil mechanic has told me i need 2 replace the turbo? but the range has no loss of power and no smoke could it just b a leak from the pipe feeding the turbo or the seals on the turbo, would b real greatful 4 some advice.

never trust a garage mechanic when he sais somthing like that without doing neccerry checks pull intercooler pipes off how much oil is in there, whats the breather like
