i worked on both, but mainly the v4/6 engined ones, the type with a huge bonnet and no boot.:D.they were the first ones to have rear disc brakes fitted, they seized up after a few weeks from new.:D

Also worked on both but not very often i served my time at a Morris agents. Remember fitting number plates to the mayors new Daimler as a lad. Only problem was it was a different number on the back and front. Always remember it TCK 1 or it was supposed to be. One was TCK 1 the other was TKC 1. That got a bit of local press coverage was not noticed for a few weeks. Honest error at sixteen though. At least that's my story.

In the old days you had the engine bloke, the gearbox bloke, the automatic gearbox bloke, and many others. Now all you have is the plug it into the computer bloke, the change the oil bloke and the fit a complete new unit bloke. How times change.

exactly, that is how it was at my garage, the apprentices spent so many weeks/months with each mechanic learning that particular skill.yes times have changed, not always for the better.;)

Yep it took five years to learn the basics then you learned from experience. Now it's a course in a college. And a not very qualified certificate. :D:D:D

And they still cannot get it right, you left out the "how can I make the bill bigger bloke".:D:D

About this chip?

Does any-one remember the chip, it started the thread, well it didn't start it but it was the reason - anyway

Which engine is it for?
What make is it?
How much do you want for it?

HOW MUCH !!!!

And have you got a spare gearbox, just in case? :)

Load of balls about gearbox. IF it has been looked after it will be fine. Same gearbox is fitted to 4.0 petrol with slightly more BHP than you get from a chipped diesel and same torque. They don't seem to fail that often so why should the diesel. Slightly different torque curve granted, but that should not make a lot of difference.
