ecu and fob programing question

hi all,

if i buy a s/hand ecu, will i be able to program the fob myshelf?

I may be wrong but I have been told (by LR "specialists") once a immobilizer ECU has been paired it cannot be repaired (part of the security).

I have just had a replacement lock set fitted and they were unable to fit a new ECU due to the fact that,

A. my current ECU is failing to talk to the T4 diagnostic computer and B. it had been previously paired.

If you give more details about your freelander (mine is a 2001 1.8k series) someone else might be able to give you a definite answer.

Which ecu ? No - the programming of fobs can only be done with Testbook or similar.
