I've looked at CB radios on Amazon. Anybody recommend a particular make / model.
I'd prefer a small one as it will fit in my Raptor dashboard unit.

hi guys

great to see u had a fun day out :D:D:D:D:D

looking forward when i can tag along plse when i finally get mine all done

also ref the cb, still got mine which i got a few years back, still brand new and never installed , will get round to it ;)

this is what i bought , mainly as the unit is small in the way it’s mounted into a dashboard

got to still buy an aerial mount and aerial, did manage to pick up some cheap second hand rails so i can fit a bracket that a company makes

http://www.4x4cb.com/public/item.cfm?itemID=2090

these are the dimensions

170 mm Wide
51 mm High
94 mm Deep

have seen some examples of where to fit the cb, just got to find a place

this is the aerial mount and was wondering when i’m ready if someone would be so kind to help me plse , installing the cb / aerial and showing me how to set it up correctly plse , thks :D:D

Whatever you do definitely get a sprung whip type antenna or it will get broken or ripped off.

I have a solid fire stick to which give superb range but it’s basically a 2m solid pole

get an SWR meter to, they are cheap and essential to setup your cb

many thks , , do indeed have got a swr meter , good idea ref the spring type aerial , seen plenty where they fitted a spring type aerial on the back, then bent it over and securing the tip of the aerial at the front of the roof rails

but don’t know how it affects the signal etc , think my glove box might be a good cb mounting area, keeping it neat and also out of the way

thks again

Did anyone get any photos of my 90?

I haven’t got any photos of it with the truck cab soft top fitted so one of it ‘in action’ would be good if anyone did?

Or a screen grab from video??

Ed, I've got a pile of Go-Pro footage mate which I've managed to get onto my Mac, but how I'd post it up is another matter altogether....!

I'd be surprised if there wasn't any of you on there despite you being a few motors ahead. I 'think' I got some of you when we had to go through the field Davey got stuck in :p and you floored it through. That'll be on my video camera - but same problem !

Just curious guys, any reason cb's are more popular than hand held pmr type radios, they are so good these days. Is it a range/ receptipn thing or just tradition to use cb.

I *think* more because PMR have less range and less channels available?

I don’t know how good hand held CB radios are?
