Hello Gord.

Thank you for taking the trouble to provide more input.

I take your point but I had in mind that it would be clamped to the pipe, not flush with the surface, but with simple "stand-off" brackets allowing airflow 'twixt pipe and shield. It seemed to work on the Cobra with only about half an inch gap. With aid of a suitable blunt instrument, the leading edge might even be flared slightly to increase airflow.l

What do you think ?

Regards

Tony

p.s. I hope you are not suffering too much from the heat there.

Looking at the brackets on other posts I suppose they would work if you could get them far enough away from the exhaust pipe. Maybe line the inside of the bracket with 1/2 inch of fiberglass insulation.

As for the heat in British Columbia I was certainly suffering in 42C over the weekend. Thanks for the sympathy. Never experienced it that hot before. Started to cool down on Tuesday and today it is cloudy and a pleasant 25C. In a way the 42 was not as bad as the 30 with 100% relativity I have experienced in southern Ontario. Talk about sweating...

Love BC but that's too hot for me.

We do get up to 42c here but usually only for a few days at a time so behind our stone walls we mostly keep cool. At present we are going through the Monsoon season. Bet not many people know that France has a Monsoon season. Been here 13 years and it's the first one we've seen.

It is too hot for everyone but very unusual for the Vancouver area. Here in Chilliwack we broke a record for hottest June 27 that was 141 years old. The town of Lytton set three consecutive records for the hottest temperatures recorded anywhere in Canada and then the whole town burnt to the ground. They are still not sure if everyone escaped.

Seen the news reports, bl**dy hell. Hope eveyone is safe

Just when you thought that it was safe to open these pages, I have one final (maybe....) point to make on the no longer vexed question of my recalcitrant EAS. As some will know I worked my way guided-by-you way through the system and replaced all or most of the bits that were faulty or might have been faulty. I now have a valve block with its box and a pump, both of which could be fully functioning or could need a refurb. I had previously done the pump but it didn't solve the problem so it is probably OK. Replacing the valve block didn't solve the problem either so that is very likely ok. So the question is, shall I put 'em up on the sales & wanted or dump them or is anyone on here in need of such things ?

Thanks Brian.
Refurb them and keep them as spares to swap out when needed:D
Sounds like a sensible idea, but having replaced them, I hope these bits will not be needed in the foreseeable future.

If someone else needs them urgently, no doubt they'll sing out.

I am going to be asking much the same questions about the aircon control panel, but I guess I should start a new thread on the subject. Oh heck, I'll mention it anyway and risk moderators shouting at me. (I suppose these forums do have moderators...?) . Some years ago I swapped out my aircon control panel because the little green numbers had become illegible. Now the replacement has gone the same way. I read somewhere that this can be fixed by replacing some rather fragile ribbon connectors/cables. Has anyone any experience of doing it ? is it simple ? Is it effective ? Now where should I have posted this ?
