Hi all,
Well Ive had my springs fitted and im chuffed. The Ride is still comfortable, in fact as I believe ive had a leaking rear bag the ride is better than it was on the EAS. I bought the Britpart kit from island 4x4 for a very reasonable price of £240.
But.
The kit contains two wires to bypass the wiring loom and I have no idea where they go. One wire has a plug on either end and the other is a single strand with a round connector on either end.
Can anyone tell me where they connect so that I can stop the beeping and 35mph warning. I know I will probably have to reset the errors afterwards.

So you thought it better to spend £240 to convert your rangie to springs when less than half that would have sorted out your leaking rear bags.tut,tut.
Send the kit back & spend your money on properly sorting out your EAS. That way you'll have a safer car & wont have to worry about rolling it on the motorway.
 
Sorry OP, but I think you've made a bad decision here. There are plans to change the MOT to mean that cars with mods like yours will automatically fail as they differ from what the manufacturer has verified as being safe. Moreover, even if your spring height is the same as motorway ride height you've either lost some off roading and wading ability, or if your springs are at 'normal' height, you've got a car with a high centre of gravity that could be unpleasant during high speed manoeuvres.

Also, and this is maybe personal, EAS is the best feature on a Range Rover. Mine never ever goes off road (and never will under my ownership) but even I like to adjust the height to get a better view if traffic or to help less able people get in. Why you'd intentionally lose such a great feature is beyond me!

Also, it's worth pointing out that for what you spent on springs you could have bought a complete set of brand new, genuine Dunlop airbags with cash left over.

Sorry I'm not answering your question but I would urge you to reconsider your opinion on EAS.
 
Mine was on coils when I bought it, conversion back to air is on my list, however re the MOT! I wrote to vosa giving details on the conversion and received a response stating that there is no reason why the car should fail, it passed in Jan 13, vosa commented that they are aware of this conversion, if vosa changed the mot to ban modified cars imagine how many would be off the road.
 
Forgot to add, if you keep it on coils fit good shocks, mine has Koni Heavy Tracks and does not roll around at all.

Perhaps you should ask the supplier if the instructions did not come with the kit. Pretty poor quality if there were no instructions.
Fitting coils is an expensive and stupid way to fix an EAS problem.
 
The loom goes from the EAS ECU to the BECM and that little wire goes on the 2nd from the left earth point near the fuse box under the seat. You'll need to remove the carpet (or cut an access hole) to attach it.
 
With wet fingers connect all wires direct to the live battery terminal. After a few minutes, pick yerself up from the road and then proceed to replace the leaky airbag and fix eas.:rolly:
 
My previous RR was on coils when I bought it and having never tried one on EAS I was quite happy with the ride and the fact it never had any suspension problems.

Guys admit there's a lot of posts here about the EAS causing trouble.

However I do believe the EAS is superior and if looked after it shouldn't cause many swear words.
Just spent 3 days working on my EAS and it's now tip-top and I love to mess around with my Range.

get ready to replace the components in a very short time!

a new bag is only £65 +VAT, time to fit, less than an hour on the drive, makes more sense to spend on 2 bags and of sorted the problem.
 
guys, As i wasnt enquiring about the merits of EAS I didnt go into a great deal of detail. As it stands, there are 3 faulty bags, the compressor is on its last legs and solonoid unit it sits in is also faulty. I understand that not everyone believes I have made the right decision, but as mentioned. the EAS is not the most reliable system out there even if l/r did spend millions on development and im sure other cars have springs? I would just like to get my rangy on the road. I didnt buy it for high speed manouvers, thats why I bought a CLK. I did state that I have kept all the parts. Thanks for your opinions, i did join this forum for input from experienced rangy owners, though i didnt expect that so many members would share their opinion so openly without actually being able to answer my questions.
I have also checked and there is no intention whatsoever to fail range rovers at MOT for this mod.

It's true mot regs are changing so it will soon fail , I still can't believe they have removed shock testing on mots they only fail for leaks now !
Crazy the reason too many people getting ripped off .
 
Last time I read the proposed regs, the rules regarding modifying suspension is for vehicles which will be MoT exempt (proposal is anything 25 years old is to be exempt). You cannot modify the vehicle to be exempt. Once you modify it, you have to have tests like everyone else.

Not really sure how they propose to police this though.

britpart conversion kits are some of the best
