Hi as we all know the EAS software currently only runs on Windoze and if like me you are a Mac user this is annoying as we have to run a virtual desktop of Windoze

now how much easier would it be if the EAS was an app that we could download!! use your phone or tablet!!

now I am not about to spend my time and effort making this if no one is interested, so shout up what would you prefer?? and if you click other then say what platform!!

also how much would you be willing to pay for such an app??

The EAS software actually runs under netframework. It would be nice if it could run on Android, then I could supply the kit complete with a 7" tablet with RAVE etc all bundled on to keep in the car. There is a company that does some software that purports to allow netframework programs to run on Android but I don't have the knowledge to attempt the conversion.

I'm looking at other possibilities but my experience with modern stuff is limited.

Sounds a bit silly to me Ant. Androids must weigh a bloody ton with all them metal bits inside em. Seen one on Red Dwarf he was a big lad. :D:D:D

Having just switch phone wise from Android to iSheep 4S, I’ve got to say I prefer IOS environment and would pay at least £20 if the EAS was ported to this. Seems to be some flakey apps out there for Droid, but having said that, the Nexus 7 we got our lad is nice and it’s affordable. Either way I’d pay for not having to faff with laptop and usb to serial convertor.

Some very flakey apps for Apple too, maps and bluetooth being the most recent examples.
You can buy a brand new tablet for android for £50 compared to rip off Apple £350 minimum.

Yes I agree £350 is a lot of money, but it's a well built product out of much nicer materials than the plastic tablets, and they hold the value so when you are ready to upgrade you can chop a chunk off your new one after selling the old one. I would rather have an iPad over any other tablet, but will concede that I have changed from iPhone to Galaxy note 2

I have to disagree, Apple insides are made to the same standard as anything else and cost the same to make but sell at rip off prices. You can buy an alloy cased tablet for around £100. Like Range Rover, Apple is an image product sold to the image obsessed.
The phone screens are too small to be useful for diagnostics, a 7" tablet is really the minimum, 10" is better. I have just ordered a 10" one, cost £60 including postage, capacitive 10 point touch screen compared to Apple's 5 point, 1Gb DDR RAM, 32Gb internal storage and up to 32Gb external, WiFi, camera, G sensor, HD display and supports 3G, and GPS.

I agree Apple does have an image obsessed fan base - however they are a good product and (excluding recent releases) the software has always been well constructed and really tight, the latest releases have been a letdown and can see why some users would feel restricted in how they can or can’t use certain things, however I have yet to experience this frustration myself. Screen size on the iPad is just right, running diagnostics would fill the screen but it’s down to the app developer to arrange everything in a clearly visible format not just mask the problem with a bigger screen. I don’t see the need for a larger screen on a tablet and if I do require a larger viewing area then I switch to my Mac. Also I love the fact I can plug anything into my Macbook Pro and OSX will identify it within seconds, and unlike Windows it will not be searching for drivers for hours and then causing conflicts. OSX is a much more stable platform than any version of Windows that I have tried and far less complicated to use than Linux, but each to his own I guess as I’ve been Apple for so long that I really would bond with another OS

Linky?

G~

No link, they come and go. Look on Ebay worldwide, here's a not so good 7" one for starters 170969496580 or look at this 10" one 261145215119 it has a resistive touch screen which is not too good, you need to look for capacitive touch screen 5 or 10 point touch.

Need to be careful tho, we got an early 7" Android tablet with no brand and it was ****e beyond belief.

I agree, buyer beware. The one I've bought looks identical to a major brand, I'll see when it arrives. I reckon the Chinese factories over produce and sell a percentage direct unbranded.
As long as I can get RAVE, the & EAS software running on it I'm not too bothered about the rest.

True, if the EAS software coulld be developed stable on Droid it would be more likely to get takers, dispite me voting for IOS ;)
