Hi I recently encountered a problem with my eas, firstly the rear of the car would rise up of its own accord then the front would follow. This would occour intermittently over a period of around a month then the dreaded christmas tree lights came on and stayed on followed by the 35mph max message and the orange vehicle raised light on the instrument cluster .after some investigation on the internet I first changed one of the rear height sensors. alas this made no difference. I then replaced the driver pack which cured the fault, the car is now operating perfectly (nearly). The suspension is working great except for the fact that the lights are still on and the 35mph max message is still showing. Today I drove 150 mile round trip to my nearest landrover specialist to have the "hard fault" message removed. but alas when plugged into his autologic machine my car shows no fault?? and he cant turn off the message. He wants me to leave the car for 3 or 4 days so he can investigate. Hes never come across this problem before. has anyone come across this problem?? any help would be appreciated.
many thanks john

The 35mph MAX message should only come on when the car is on the bump stops. The EAS should not have started operating normally when the driver pack was changed until the fault was cleared. So, I would suspect a bad connection, a problem with the wiring, the instrument cluster, the EAS ECU or the BECM. Not a lot of help really, needs investigation with diagnostics nad a meter or maybe an oscilloscope.

Hi. I dont know what type of computer is autologic but if you can get CD and cable specifically for suspensions it should help. once the car is in a hard fault even if you find the problem and replace the part, you still need to unlock the fault, it is very easy to do and only time you will spend is waiting for delivery of the CD, it is about £20 and well worth it, I am sure you will use it next time as RR suspension is trouble,

now were would yer man get one of these disc's from, datatek any idea,

I wonder if any member on here could supply the software and lead?
Possibly cheaper than ebay?
Possibly with a complete RAVE on the disc as well?

I wonder if there's a very subtle hint that I've missed

:D

I have heard that a member on here sells them for around £11.00 plus post complete with the software and a copy of RAVE aswell, also a guide to changing airbags. But for the life of me can't remember what Keiths (Datatek) name is.

Hi thanks for your replies a friend of mine had one of those discs and leads and I plugged it in today and its showing all the sensor heights but not showing any faults either. the program is made i think by rsw solutions. and it doesnt seem to be able to remove the 35mph warning or reset it in any way. any other thoughts?
many thanks john

Errrr....it does....do you have a good comms idle (green thingy) on the screen....??

It will reset the faults, run the compressor, open/close the valves, Calibrate the ride height settings, remotely control the height adjustment etc....

Me does think thou is not using it right....make sure you get gets a steady comms connection, it will do all that is needed to service and diagnose the EAS....

As I said earlier, if the EAS is functioning normally AND you have the slow 35mph message, then there is either a wiring fault in the loom that relays the information from the EAS ECU to the BECM/Instrument cluster, or the EAS ECU/BECM/Instrument cluster has a fault.
Normally it is impossible to have the message without a hard fault being recorded.
The RSW software cannot remove a fault if none exists.

If you have the EKA code and radio code, you could try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes in case the ECU has got confused.

Or what D says^^^^^^

Thanks guys I'll try disconnecting the battery and see what happens. thanks for your replies. with regards to the rsw programe it was showing a good connection and the facility to adjust the heights was working ok. the guy who lent it to me actually plugged it into my range rover and showed me how to get the faults up of which there were none showing and he went to reset the 35mph message but it just had no effect. I'll try the battery first and then check the wiring and see if there is any corrosion at the plugs etc

Hi guys I disconnected the battery and checked the wiring and plugs etc in and around the pump and valve block and the condition of the wiring and plugs at the height sensors last night and re connected it this morning, turned on the ignition and alas beep beep... and the 35mph came on instantly. all the wiring looks as good as new, so i dont know where to go from here

That's a difficult one, the 35 mph message display is I think instigated by the BECM when it receives a signal from the EAS ECU (I need to check that). It would be a matter of metering out the lines to see if it is the BECM at fault or the EAS ECU. The easy way would be to swap the EAS ECU fror a known good one, if the fault remains, then it has to be down to the wiring or the BECM or just possibly the display. Do all the other messages work like door open etc?
