I have worked on my 1997 4.6 for a couple of weeks and had the battery disconnected. The car has had a spring conversion and the EAS removed, so when I reconnected the battery and ran the car down the road, the speed is restricted to 35mph. Is there a way to re-set the system to turn off the speed limit, or do I have to take it down to Land Rover where the nice man will empty my wallet and spank my arse for the pleasure? Please help.

When the coils were fitted they obviously didn't fit the magic box of tricks (a wire across two terminals I believe...!!) to tell the EAS ECU to shut up and not moan that some numpty has replaced the Air Springs with coils....

Two Options -

Fit Air Springs back and reinstate the system
or
Fit the Magic Box

If you disconnect the EAS ECU, the BeCM might throw a hissy fit....

Maybe disconnecting and reconnecting the battery has caused the EAS ECU to store a fault code....accidently spikes of electricity will cause havoc on the P38....if it was working beforehand, I would summise there is a stored fault code that needs clearing.

When you bought your spring convertion you should have got a harness to cut out the message centre. The speed is not restricted to 35 mph you can go as fast as you want to. It's just that the EAS ECU thinks there is something wrong. And there is it has silly coils on it. You could have returned the EAS to full function for less than you paid to make your car dangerous on the road. Over the next couple of years the EU MOT rule changes will make your car illegal.

Mine says the same after battery has been disconnected, goes away after a few minutes.
If not dis/re-connect battery again and by the time you've reset windows/sunroof it should be gone.
If it still appears - use a hammer:D

You could try connecting pin 7 to pin 18 in the multi pin plug where it enters the ECU.
Not my idea, just something else that appeared on here a while back.

Druim you're a genius. I re-set the windows and then switched it off, took the key out, and then re-started it after ten seconds. It seems to work a treat now. Ace, cheers for the help.
