Just a quick one guys, after 6 months trouble free I have had the EAS LIGHT on the dash come on?
All the lights on the indicator are lit , and the car sits at normal height, not on it's knees?
Any suggestions, could it just be the cold? The car has always gone up and down like a treat without problem

Cheers

When ignition is switched on all lamps should light. When engine is started EAS ECU recieves a speed signal to tell it engine is running, it should then do a self test, then all but the height indicator for the selected height should go out. It would seem it is not getting a speed signal and the self test is not being done. It may just be a glitch or you may need to read the faults and clear them to reset ECU. PM Datatek for leads and software to do this. You will need a laptop.

You don't have the up arrow on the dash? If you have the up arrow it is in fault mode and may be sitting higher than normal. If so could be a height sensor, you need to read the fault codes to see what is going on.

He did not mention up arrow Keith i based my reply on it not being present. :):)

Thanks guys for your replies had been booked into local specialist this afternoon for diagnostic £45? - but have been back out in car and it has cleared itself? And all is back to normal, could the freezing weather overnight caused the issue?

Datatek - does your cable and software clear light bulb fault? I have a rear bulb fault but yet they work fine!
Cheers

Just a glitch then, as said before, possibly no fault recorded. Maybe water in a sensor.

You cant manually clear a light bulb fault. It should automatically clear when you replace the failed bulb with the correct new one.You can try cleaning the bulb socket. If that does not help then the Becm or wiring/connectors may be faulty.

The EAS is prone to the odd glich. I've stayed on top of mine through preventative maintenance but was curious to see how long an original compressor could last and was feeling a bit left out as the P38 had covered over 95k without an EAS fault :)

Anyway the poor old compressor was struggling to raise to the occasion (I know how it feels:eek:) when it(I) induced a fault at 96k. I cleared it with my kicker lite and the Rangie carried on without fault for another 6k. The only time it showed any stress was if I lowered to access height, it would take its time to raise. This longevity is probably aided by the system being air tight.

It would probably be carrying on ok now. But I'm heading up to near the artic circle (Northern Norway) in Feb and didn't want to push my luck so I replaced the compressor at 102K.

So 102k and nearly 12 years on the original compressor without any sort of rebuild. I thought that was pretty good.

Make sure they tell you what the fault was. I would bet on it being a height sensor either failing or water in the connector. In the past Iv'e had exactly the same problem.

My cable is EAS only. As others have said you cannot "Clear" a bulb fault except by curing the fault which is likely to be a corroded bulb holder, a bad earth or connectors at the BECM.:)
