EAS Error Codes

Hi Everyone,

While out driving tonight, I got the dreaded BEEP BEEP and the light came one my dash which shows the suspension is on high, and all four lights were on the hight adjustment button.

But I never got the 35 MPH message.

I came home and used the EAS software, I got all of the following error's:

3 : F8:8_Hidden
4 : RL signal incorrect
5 : F8:32_Hidden
6 : RR signal incorrect
7 : F8:128_Hidden
0 : Engine speed fault
3 : Pressure signal constantly low
4 : Air supply fault
5 : Air supply leak
6 : Target heights incorrect
7 : Vehicle has moved
1 : Cannot lower FR
3 : Cannot lower RR
4 : FA:16_Hidden
5 : FA:32_Hidden
6 : FA:64_Hidden
7 : FA:128_Hidden
0 : FL valve stuck open
1 : FR valve stuck open
3 : RR valve stuck open
4 : Inlet valve stuck open
5 : Exhaust valve stuck open
6 : FB:64_Hidden
7 : FB:128_Hidden
2 : RL valve stuck closed
3 : RR valve stuck closed
4 : Inlet valve stuck closed
5 : Exhaust valve stuck closed
6 : FC:64_Hidden
7 : FC:128_Hidden
3 : F8:8_Hidden

I cleared the memory, and started the rangie up, drove down the road & back, and all seems well.

Does anybody have an ideas about what might have happened?

I hope it aint expensive, Oh I nearly forgot its a Rangie so no doubt it will be. LOL.

It looks like its just cycling through all the available fault codes!

Give it a few days and read the faults again, post what turns up.

Cheers Bud,

I just went out again.

And I think the battery might be knackered, I had to bump start her. I drove about 2 miles the suspension went on high again, then back to normal. Weird

But I will check the EAS again in a day or 2 to see what comes up.

Get the battery sorted before the winter sets in proper, a bad battery will make a P38 do all sorts of strange things, throwing faults up all over the place.

The EAS driver pack going faulty does odd things too, V.difficult to diagnose but a regular offender for un-commanded height changes.

But first do the battery.

Got to agree with the above.
Just changed my driver pack for a used one and no more unrequested height changes!!

Still does a dance at the lights now and again but i think thats normal.

Cheers for all of that. I will get the battery looked at today.

If it does turn out to be a failing valve block, would anybody recommend this on feebay Range Rover P38 EAS Valve Block Diaphragm Repair on eBay (end time 19-Dec-09 10:54:36 GMT)

Or would you just get a replacement valve block.

Is changing the valve block a fairly easy job, likewise how easy is changing the Valve block diaphrams?

Out of range readings from a height sensor will give you the problem you describe. They do not like rain!
I always get a fault list when I start up the EAS software, do a reset EAS then read again and it will give you the actual fault.
A diaphram will not necessarily fix the valve block, you may need an "O" ring set. Look at Range Rovers supposed to be a relatively easy job. Not done it yet but I have a spare secondhand valve block to try it on when I have time.

Mine has no problem with rain, and I've been splashing through some HOOGE puddles over the past week or so!!

I need to overhaul my valve block, but I'm not looking forward to doing it. Does anyone know of anyone that offers an overhaul service in this country? Rover Renovations in the US do, but it seems a bit silly to ship it all the way out there, although I'm tempted...

I was looking at a second hand one to do, meaning I could still use the car, but all the ones I've seen are very expensive.

Likewise! No probs with water, puddles or wading, but valve block needs rebuild, with occassional sticking valve faults.

I've got the bits from Rover Renovations, but want a spare block to do to keep it on the road whilst I do it, but like you say they're pricey even on fleabay and needing a rebuild.

Maybe I was lucky, I got a complete valve block on Ebay for £50 in an auction sale. I thought that was not too expensive as a spare?

Just have to keep an eye on Ebay, cheap ones do come up from time to time

Blimey. I wouldn't mind that price so much, but all the ones recently have been more than twice that and there's no guarrantee that they are even repairable. I'll just have to keep looking, I guess.

when my p38 started doing the traffic light dance it wasnt long before the front airbag decided to give up,so keep an eye on them.

Mine still does the little dance with new airbags. The front dives under braking despite the anti dive programmed into the EAS, the little dance is just it leveling itself. But as Gemsdad says, keep an eye on your airbags, if they are more than 7 or 8 years old they probably need replacing. the dance is worse if the airbags leak!

mine were bloody break dancing not just a gentle up and down motion.
