Hi guys,

I've had to abandon the 'fuse 9 failure' for a while as I've now got a hard fault on the EAS.

Some time ago I had a problem with the EAS which turned out to be corroded wires. I fixed them and unlocked the EAS with EAS unlock.

However I have another hard fault but cant get to grips with it this time.

Plugging EAS unlock in, i get goor TX RX, O on all faults, pump works, decompressed and re compressed, dropped each bag and raised each bag, calibrated heights, all sensors in range, goes to ride heights on EAS unlock. Try and 'unlock' but nothing happens. Still 35mph with Xmas tree lights on dash.

Any thoughts?

Unlock just clears all faults. Nothing will happen and messages and lights will remain until you press stop on EASunlock and disconnect OBDII socket. Then message should go and lamps return to normal.

Hi Wammers,

I did all that before I posted. When the wires went last time Idid exactly the same procedure and the fault cleared. This time nothing happened. The EAS unlock seemed to be working fine as I had a good idle and all the functions worked for testing with it. I'm stumped. P.S. The bags are still on std height after a long and bumpy normal school run and no leaks found when I checked either.

I suggest you read through the EASunlock instructions then. If you have followed the instructions, it maybe losing sync at some point that is the only reason i can think of.

P.S. on my other issue of fuse 9 failure, can you check for 12v output from the becm while still connected to the battery. I thought I read somewhere you can fry the circuit that way.

Can't see what you can hurt if you use a multimeter. Take the fuse out and check there is power to the feed side. Then put the fuse back in and check power from other side through fuse. If that checks out you would then have to check power to outstation. If you have a feed to outstation pin 10 but nothing coming out of pin 8 or 16 (polarity depends on up or down request, that is where your problem lies out station or in the switching side..

When you have done the unlock, you need to stop the software, turn the ignition off and then unplug in that order. then when you turn the ignition back on the 35mph message should be gone unless there is a fault that has not cleared.

Says he's done that Keith. :):)

You can't drop individual bags unless you alter the settings, if you have changed the height settings and you have one out of range that will give you a problem such as you have.

thanks guys. I tested the bags by using the 'heights' function to check they each went up and down OK, then went to 'calibrate' and go to 'standard height' which set the correct level for me. I'll re run the unlock and make sure I follow your procedure for turning off in case i got it wrong. You know frustration leads to mistakes. On the issue of the fuse 9, I checked power to the fuse which is fine, then took the plugs off the both the outstation to test for 12v and there was none t oeither. that lead me to believe there is nothing wrong with the outstations. I'll pull the plug on the becm and see if there is any power 'coming out'. If not, any suggestions what could be happening in the becm before I take the plunge?. I'll report back with progress for others who might be interested in the future.

Power not getting to the outstations could just be corroded connectors. Condensation in the BECM is another possibility that may have caused damage.

A quick updtae. This morning the car had 'self leveled' by the looks of things with the front still high and the 2 rear bags lowered. I'm on a slight slope and this is normal to see each morning. I put the EAS unlock back on, tested for faults and all came back as '0'. I hit the unlock EAS button, stopped the idle, turned the ignition key off (and out) then unplugged the laptop lead. turned the car back on and 'SLOW 35mph' and all ride height lights still on. I put the EAS unlock on again to level the car to std height, did the unlock sequence again. The car is at std height but EAS is still locked. Tonight I have parked the car facing the other way to see if it was rear bags/pipes slowly leaking or if all bags are holding air. If the front bags go down overnight and the rear bags stay up I know there are no leaks. What I cant get is the fact the EAS unlock is showing NO faults when in good idle, yet wont unlock the EAS system. P.S. on the 'Fuse 9' I checked the 12v output at the plug and nothing, so I bypassed the becm (via a 10a fuse, just in case) and ran a 12v wire directly to the driver outstation (door pin) and everything worked, both door and window. Strange as I thought there are 2 12v feeds, 1 to door and 1 to window. It still worked when I removed the temp wire meaning the becm had once again started putting out power for no apparent reason. Then out of curiosity I pushed the passenger window button down and it worked too, plus the lock twitched (although I have whittled it down to a short in the lock now).

Check if the back of the OBD connector is wet.

Thanks, I'll check. in the meantime, another update. It appears the airbags and pipes ar leak free as the rear bags stayed up last night and the front dropped a little to self level. Once I've checked all is well with the OBD or not) I'll report back. It didnt look damp when i plugged into it though.
