hiya guys.

ive converted my 3 door commerical TD4 Auto to have rear seats and cut in the rear windows.

When i done this informed the AA and said no probs

However my renewal is due this month, which i must say i nearly fell through the floor has gone up to £900 fully comp for my wife and i, with 1 years no claims bonus. i use to drive company cars before that so didnt have my own insurance.

They now saying ive got to get the log book changed.

currently for the body type is says

Light 4 x 4 utility .

what should i change this to please

its a 3 door hard top.

then is it the case of filling in the log book with the different body type, or do i have to get proof from a garage and send it with my log book ?

as always many thanks guys, i started to fit the synergy today , been working out a route for the toggle switch, still im in no rush and like to do it neat and tidy, looking forward to the results, was going to put it on number 2

thanks

hi

thanks guys ive put on the form 3 door estate, also have been reading that the dvla sometimes wish to view the car, suppose to see if everything is ok.

the conversion wasnt as straight forward as i thought, had to get the seat belt brackets welded in for the rear seats.

never the less now looks good with the full interior

just had its mot and was fine.emissions was 0.025 co ,

my insurance went up £400 from last year , went on many other web sites and £900 is the lowest i can get it, my current insurer the AA done it through acromas

i asked them would it be cheaper to just have just me on the insurance and advised me it would be dearer, work that one out.

at the end of the day sounds daft but feel very lucky im able to have a car, only use it twice a week, certainly couldnt afford to run it every day

once i fit the synergy ( the invisable one ) will put on here the results if its of any use

managed to get the wire through for the toggle switch, i mounted it in the centre counsol were the front electric window switches are, used one of the blanks as its only a 3 door, then took the wire up behind the radio then through a redundent grommet.

defently looking forward to seeing what these units do, hopefully it may improve the mpg.

if i get 30 mpg + will be extremely pleased

as always thanks for all your help and guidence

hi we are with elephant which is part of admiral wife 44 driving 12 years i only pay 435 for our rr sport thats with her on it i am 45 driving 20 years plus

Everyones insurance is up.

£900

As above - 3dr estate, there were so many versions of the FL1 even the insurance companies dont get it right.

Shop around using price comparison websites, dont be loyal to your insurance company, they won't do you any favours.

AA insurance £190 fully comp, protected no claims and legal cover Wife and myself as drivers. Nine years + NCD and parked in driveway, policy taken out a couple of months ago.

geographically, probably quite close to you Gary.

Currently paying £590 comprehensive, wife + one named driver, full business use, 8 years no claims.

Be careful with the commercial thing, sometimes when they put the registration number in it shows commercial, then it defaults to business use, which you probably don't want.

good luck

hiya

optimus, you must be a mind ready because thats exactly what they did, put my reg number in and transfered me to commercial dept, however theyve insured it for the last year.

so i told the commercial department it wasnt and what i had done with the seats, he read the notes and was on there i had rang them telling them months ago.

he advised me to chage the log book and will then stop all the confusion

so ive put on there 3 door estate and posting it tommorow hopefully i wont get any problems.

as always thanks guys have noted all the companies and see what it comes up with

Elephant are part of Admiral Insurance. They also own Diamond Insurance and Bell Insurance but they will still underquote each other. Go back online and get a quote from Diamond giving them Elephant's as your best so far. Then do it for Bell. It's easy because it's the same on-line form with a different backing colour. Keep going until you get bored and see how much lower you can get. I started with a renewal from Admiral for £1220 for the family cars then did all this, then phoned Admiral and got a price of £720.

The important thing to remember is that when it comes up for renewal they will try it on hoping that you'll be lazy and accept what they say. DON'T - do the whole thing again.
