I'd get your money back and sort that part out...then move on...

Bunch of shady gits.....after seeing the interior and how manky it was and missing bits...I have a sneeking suspicion that is wasn't an Autobiography anyway and was just a plain HSE or SE preying on the gullible and ignorant.

I have to say, I'm not confident to buy cars off eBay.

I bought mine via my uncle as his buys and sells cars for a living....if it wasnt for the fact he is having a funny turn and feeling ill at teh moment I'd have a chat with him to see if he coudl source one for you.

ahhh bless ya Adam bud. I am not going to go there as I have a bad feeling that it could turn a bit nasty, especially when we show them the e-bay messages. I am only a small fella and easily pushed about  we are going to telephone them instead and ask what the hell is going on.
I actually saw the advert on autotrader where there is a different phone number which is where i saw it. we didnt know it was on e-bay untill we got home. Thanks for thinking of us about asking your uncle and we are sorry to hear he isnt well. wish him the best please from caroline and Tony. Back to the range rover problem may I ask what part of the UK you are in bud ?

regards Teddy

blimey yup thats a fair way. I know there are a lot of range rovers for sale in london but i havent delved too deeply on that distance. I have thought about travelling to london to look at RR's but its a long way to go if the car isnt any good and it would be a wasted journey. in my price range ive not seen any RR's as nice as yours.ive got about 5 K but autotrader has the same RR's and there isnt any new ones. I just have to keep searching. :(

The only reason why there have been a high influx of Range Rovers of late around London is the congestion charge and of course the new road tax of £300 and then increasing to £400 next year. Plus its a bit un PC now to own a 4x4....

But that shouldnt put you off, I'm seriously thinking of converting my Range Rover to LPG as it really does make a lot of sense and makes it much more ECO friendly and cost efficient...in fact better than diesel on both accounts!

Again, I'll get my uncle to fit it in his garage.....trade prices Shhhhssssh! I better not tell you how much I paid for my P38......and it came with very rare Official Land Rover/Range Rover leather luggage set too (2 suit cases and a vanity case).

Hi.
Where abouts in the country are you Teddy, as i have some experience dealing with trading standards when i left a £200 deposit on a classic. They tried to rip me off by agreeing to do work so's i'd buy the car, i left a deposit, went back to pick it up and they had bodged everything so i refused to buy it. Never got my deposit back even after involving tradeing standards, they said it would have been better to buy the car and then they could have got their teeth into the company. I got my own back, quietly. I'm sorry your having a rough time of it. Let me know if there's any help you need.

Cheers, Nick.

thanks njh we are all over the place at the moment, dont know what to do first:mad: I know we have to try and get our cash back but its not easy. theres been so much going on i dont know where to start:mad: erm. we are in west yorkshire, bradford to be precise.

regards Ted

p.s all i want is my first RR, thing is £200 pound is alot of money when ya have 3 children and as I am off work sick its a lot of cash especially when ya have had to save up for a nice car for it for years and then someone just robbs if from you. :(

I know it's not a small amount so try your phone call, see what happens as if you lose that £200 it may be better than ££££'s trying to put right a really bad example. There will be someone by you who will come with you if ask the specific question.

Cheers, Nick.

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: that is NOT an Autobiography. what i probably should of said when I said what an Autobiography was is that all true Autobiographys have a like a stickery plate thingy on the slam panel bit when you open the bonnet. So where the VIN number label is etc there will be another label that says something like 'LAND ROVER SPECIAL VEHICLES DEPARTMENT' or something similar.

As for the picture of that dashboard - ARGH... as Adam says its rubbish!! I dont know what on earth that random switch thing is on the far left of the switches. The aftermarket radio doesnt even have the surrounds to make it look neat. The little cubby hole thing above it is missing a great bit plastic chunk so you cant store stuff in there really.

Its in a completely sorry state if its have overheating probs as well. As the other guys have said try and get your deposit back if you can and leave it.

Looking through the eBay ad theres a few mistakes here and there which would raise my suspicions. Not only that its a coil sprung model, I think that lessens the value of the vehicle by at LEAST £500 personally. I will say that eBay CAN be a good place to get cars though, afterall, its where mine was found. However I did go back and forth a good few times in the end to make sure it was ok and took a mechanic with me.

Once again, try and get your deposit back if possible, you have a receipt so this is something for you. If you dont have any luck on the phone I would seriously try and gether a few people toghether and go down there and try and ask for the money back, not as in beat it out of them just you have more impact if you are actually there in person, your just not somebody on the end of a phone. I would even try giving the local police a ring, im not sure on what they would say with this matter but its always worth a try.

Sorry you have had such trouble getting your P38, try and be patient and just keep on searching :)

-Wills :)

I am pretty certain that the increase in road tax only applies to group G vehicles.
These are certain vehicles Registerd after March 2006.
It will not apply to our older RR's (yet).

I think a Renault Espace falls in group G, as long as its registerd after March 24th ish 2006.

There seems a bit a bit of panick selling going on at the moment, and when every one fully understands the situation I think the prices may stabilise again?. ( so get ya bargain RR's now) Just use help and advice if you are not sure what you are looking at.
Though I agree, 4x4 does seem a bit un pc.at the moment.

I have 3 vehicles, and am getting peed off with nearly everyone that knows me saying " i bet you wish you hadnt got these gas guzzlers now you have to pay 400 quid tax"

I am happy to correct them.

Sorry to hear of your problems Teddy, dont let these dodgy btds get ya down.
you can do a vehicle check through ebay i think, and its only about 6 quid ish.
All the best.

Thanks guys for the support and just to give you an update, we have just been to the police station and theres nothingthey can do  It's the jurisdiction of the trading standards. I did speak to them this morning and they did say that it does smell of fraud and under the sale of goods act they need to pay us our deposit back. Even they have caught wind of the fact that it does seem that they are trying to get more cash for the car.
if they sell the RR from under our noses then it is classed as theft and fraud.

regards

Teddy

That eBay description is completely false. His item description is an Autobiography yet in the blurb below he says it has "ALL THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY BITS, FACTORY UPGRADED FROM NEW"

It also says the Range Rover hs been fitted with "2000 SPEC CLEAR LIGHTS"

Look at the picture below.....does it have clear 2000MY spec headlights? NO! it STILL has the amber/orange indicators!

Hiya Adam, Was very good to chat with you on the blower last night and yup after you pointed out the mY2000 spec lights it really began to sink in just how much that their advert was misleading.
njh and le bob has offered to go and check out a few RR's if any are close to them and Caroline and I wish them many thanks. as we discussed last night, theres hardly anything up in this neck of the woods so its a case of travelling a bit further a field. We know you will keep an eye out also and I will be searching as many websites as possible.
After the mistake we have just made that has cost us £200 pound I/we think it may be best if one of you guys checks it out before I really make a big mistake:( *sighs* oh well the search goes on. if anybody else does a search our post code here is BD3 7AH .

Thanks to everyone and as Caroline pointed out earlier today that if it wasnt for this forum i think i would've gone mad;)

Regards Teddy

Just noticed my eBay watch list and the car has ended...anyone know why?

I know I reported them to eBay for misleading title.......perhaps they actually did look into it?

Ahhhhh I seee "The seller ended this listing early because the item is no longer available for sale."

Hmmmmm very suspicious!

I bought my Disco on Ebay. I was in a hurry and didnt want anyone else to have it so I rang him up discussed a price and promised to be there the next day (150 miles away) with the cash. Subject to it being as advertised, no nasty surprises. I guess its a lesson learned dont part with any cash until you are 100% certain everything is OK. I was lucky and got a decent one. I sincerely hope that you manage to get your cash back and put an end to this woeful tale!
