Hello there I currently have a range rover dse but find it to be using a lot of fuel and has black smoke coming out the back. But not using oil or water ne help plus wots the diff from mine to the dhse

Stick it on diagnostics if there are no faults, dripping injectors. Don't really know. Mine is stated to be DSE but has most of the toys. Always thought it was highline BECM but mine has one of thoughs and is still only a DSE on log book.

i think it all depends on what the 1st owner bought new,if they got an se then upgraded the specs to that of a hse it would only say se on the v5.

Land Rover Logic:

SE Special/standard Edition
HSE High Specification Edition
DSE Diesel Special/standard Edition
DT Turbo Diesel / Diesel Turbo according to them (must be lost in the German Translation)
DHSE Diesel....You guessed it.

DHSE tends to be later years standard but options as Data mentioned can still be added or taken away.

Try giving it a good thrash might be just crap on the turbo or in the exhaust - throw in some good fuel system cleaner to.

Think SE means, Special electric.

or

SE - Shi*y Engine
HSE - High Speed Embolisim
DSE - Digital Shi*y Engine
DHSE - Dont hold the Steering Equipment
DT - Dont (even) Try...

Thanks for clarifying that, I always thought the nomenclature was:-

SE = Shoddy Engineering
HSE = Horrendously Shoddy Engineering
DSE = Diabolically Shoddy Engineering
DHSE = Horrendously Diabolically Shoddy Engineering
DT = Daft Twerp (anyone stupid enough to buy one)
