Hi everyone,
Ok, does anyone have any idea on this??
Coming home this evening, driving along at just under 30mph - felt the vehicle surge forward a little like it was accelerating and then suddenly the MIL lit up and engine died shortly followed by GEARBOX FAULT on the message display. Luckily this was on a quietish road and I just coasted off to the side.
Came to a stop, turned key to the OFF position and tried to restart. Engine spun over but no start. Tried it three times in total, nothing, not a hint of it going.
As I was near home I got my father to bring out my Faultmate MSV to me so I could plug in and have a look any faults that might of been logged. In the mean time I went round the engine bay and checked all sensor plugs, wiring and pipes for anything obvious.
Father + Faultmate MSV arrived and I got straight into it. Checked the engine ECU for any faults and found an error of FUEL VALUE OUT OF RANGE - cleared it and tried restarting, still nothing with this being re-logged below....
I also then went and checked the gearbox ECU and found this fault...
I didn't quite know what to do at this point and thought about ringing the AA. Before I did I thought I would have one last check around and plugged and unplugged a few engine sensors to check for any damamged pins or corrosion and also checked the injector pump round plug. After I had finished I then gave it one last go and it fired right up.
Now, thinking back I had this same problem in the past when I thought I had drowned my powerbox chip in water. Engine would cut out and you had to wait a good 5 mins before trying to restart. Eventually the chip seemed to give up altogether and the vehicle wouldn't start so I unplugged the chip from the injector plug and the problem went away. Im now just wondering if that isn't the fault any maybe its something within the pump itself.
The in-tank fuel pump is newish, definitely under a year old so Im pretty much ruling that out as a possible cause. I also had my FIP rebuilt at the end of last year as well so I wouldn't of thought that was a problem EITHER.
Are there any common causes to the FLOW VALUE OUT OF RANGE fault that anyone knows of??
Since the incident it still starts ok and idles fine. It drove home ok too. Im not sure what to do now, anyone have any ideas??

FUEL FLOW VALUE OUT OF RANGE, TOO HIGH, MAJOR FAULT, FAULT LOGGED, INTERMITTENT
(RPM = 0, WATER TEMP = 130)
OCCURANCES = 10.

INVALID ENGINE RPM DATA.
