Drone after lift

Hello all, ive just done a 2in lift on the car using spacers. Im getting a raelly loud deep drone at 70mph in both 4th and 5th, it disappears though at about 75 or when i dip the clutch.
Any ideas?

ye, its the transfer box saying for ****s sake slow down , iam a old bus. you are going to get some noise as you have lifted it , you dont get away scott free with a lift, it will find every weakness in time.

Yeh slow down no need for 70 75 in a lifted discovery try avoiding somthing at that speed its not much fun

remove front prop and try it in difflock then the rear if it doesnt stop it

I still reccon the two sugestions of driving slower might be the right answer, after all if it's lifted then no doubt bigger boots have been fitted too, get in to an emergency situation at 70/75 and all hell could break loose.

It's cos you've lifted it.....................end of.
If you want it to stop, take the lift kit off or buy a double cardan prop.

Yep serious. I was under the impression that a 2in lift wouldnt effect anything, maybe it was a bit of naivety on my part. I'll check the uj's but they were fine when i last checked 2 wks ago. Just want to know if anythings likely to fly apart.

it varies from vehicle to vehicle could be a coincedence but probably greater prop angle is having an efffect ,most likely front

How do i counter that? Whats involved in the doulble caden props? When i let it coast at that speed though its totally silent.

After my lift the back was skipping (cos of the front axle) put caster correction bushes for the time being in & that is now sorted. Has a big rumble at about 50 off the power.

Naivety on your part. Some people get away with it some don't.
Double cardan has 1 more joint in the prop, not cheap.

If you want it to drive as best as possible after a lift*, you need to fit the following:

Castor correction front arms - £210
Cranked rear arms - £115
Extended brake lines - £50
Extended bump stops - £60
Wide angle props - £180 each
Adjustable panhard rod - £109
2" lower rear shock droppers - £45 (may as well if you want it all done properly)

Above prices are based on my own recent purchases.
This excludes any poly bushes & heavy duty spring retention plates.

*A proper shock & spring kit.

Gwyn Lewis will correct your radius arms for £15 each, no need to buy replacements. The originals tend to be far stronger than many of the replacement items too. Cranked rear arms aren't really needed, all they will do is give you a bit more articulation. Extended brake lines again not needed with a 2" lift, unless you're fitting +5" extended shocks etc. Std. bump stops are fine, and I have never had a problem with standard prop UJs. Standard panhard rod is also fine for 2 inch lifts.

And you only need extended hoses if you use shock droppers but then again WTF would you drop a standard shock which is crap after spending loads of money on a lift? Get extra long shocks and do it properly.
