Hi all, just wondering if anyone knows where I can get a replacement driving lamp assy. from. One lamp is perfect, the reflector on the other rotten. Alternatively can anyone recommend a pair of lamps as a replacement? Many thanks.

Hi Discool, thanks for that but at 212 beer tokens (each) for a genuine one I think I'll give it a miss. Since I searched the Hella ones you suggested, I see Halfords do a PAIR of Ring driving lamps £21 (no fitting kit). I will take my lamp over and see if the Ring lens/reflector will fit straight in the existing shell as there isn't even a locating lug on the old reflector just four plastic washers holding the lens in situ. BTW yours looks bloody nice how long have you had it ?

Hi, yes the price surprised me too even though they are 'genuine parts' even so the manufacture is Hella which is good as spares were available then, now it seems sellers sell the lamps complete.
My D1s Hella driving lamps also genuine parts with a LR part number which were fitted by a LR main dealer, plus a few other optional extras, I when purchased it in 1997 so 23years old in September.

Yeah the lamps & bar were fitted from new on this one (the previous owner had it from new). The plastic shell has Reed automotive embossed in it & the lens ZKW but it didn't turn up much on a search so it's a trip to Halfords tomorrow & if they're 7" jobbies I can't see why the Ring lens won't fit as there's plenty of room in the shell, fingers crossed.

I once fitted some sealed unit lamps off a Volvo inside some P80 1930s headlights for a kit car I was building. Managed it in the end, even to fitting the original glass back in not quite touching the glass of the sealed beams. Twas to go on a sort of SS 100 Jag replica.
Took me a fortnight of messing about!
This sort of thing,

With these inside them.

Why on earth do it? Well the originals idea of dipping was to kill the offside headlight completely and to physically dip the reflector of the other with a solenoid so the beam pointed towards the nearside ditch! Hardly and MOT pass! But I've kept the works though as they are such fun!
