Drivers Heated Seat

Hello,

I have a 2006 TD4 2.0 Freelander with Alcantara heated seats. The passengers heated seat working fine no problems. Driver seat had a lot of wear & tear, side cushion has a tear in, however the heated seat doesn't work. Had it in the garage on Thursday & was advised that it was the mat inside the seat (assume the mat/element?) needed replacing. Told it's fixable but not easy. If I wanted to go down that route... would you advise to get a whole new seat? Bearing in mind the rip I already have on the current seat... or replace the mat/element? If I wanted a new seat, willing to purchase due to looking after my car from day one, where would I get one with Alcantara leather & suede inserts!?

If you wanted to repair the seat, then the information is out there, on how to do it. However it's a time consuming operation, and the seat covers aren't cheap. The lowest hassle option is to find a better condition second hand replacement.

I have fitted a set of heater pads from ebay in my seats and they work great, took about an hour a side once I had the seats out the car. I found it quite a nice job to do.

I've managed to find a second hand seat, only one of my kind on Ebay. Actually being delivered tomorrow. Is replacing an easy task? Is there a connector for the heated seat? Like plug and play?

Yes easy to change. Make sure the seat belt clasp gaiter is the same length as yours (not shorter), or it'll need swapping over.
Disconnect the battery for 15 minutes before unplugging the yellow plug (belt pre-tensioner), the other plug (seat heater) is easy done.
The seat is secured by 4 Torx bolts(I can't remember the size), but it comes out easy enough.

Thanks Nodge. The yellow plug (belt pre-tensioner) us that a b*stard to unplug or? Does it effect the ecu or anything like that?

It's not difficult to unplug, once you've identified the locking clip.
