Drivers Door Central Locking Problem

My 2001 Disco 2 developed the following problem last week, although it has been intermittent since I got the car a few months back. I have gone through the various threads on the site, but they are not quite the same as my fault I believe.

The drivers door refuses to unlock with the key fob, but will lock (the other doors operate correctly) also the drivers door does not lock or unlock with the dash rocker switch, although i can hear things working inside the door when I attempt either operation. If I push the lock button down the door locks, but will only jump back up if i pull the interior door handle.

They appear to be all the symptoms. Does anyone recognise the fault and know the cure please ?

First of all give some WD4 to the mechanism......if no joy look at the sticky thread from the top.
 
As you say there ar a few threads on this subject, your lock has two servo's lock and unlock and there may be a third servo, dead lock but i'm not sure on that on, that may also be controlled by your dash switch as well as the fob..
Your problem is or maybe the unlock survo is faulty, the only solution is to replace the lock if it is.

DOOR SPRINGS are a D1 issue D2's dont have them.

Sticky thread refers to the threads that are always at the top when you look at the thread list, click on discovery threads and the first few are stickys, think there is one about tyre sizes etc.
 
Thanks for the info discool, i shall investigate and report back.
Are the electrical connections the multi-plug that i could see when the door trim was off.
I was wondering if i had a broken wire/loose connection, or a dry joint? as the fault showed up during extremes of temp

Yes or it's for the window motor, but no harm with 'wiggling' the plug or parting the plug from the socket and reconnecting.
 
The plug in question fits into the base of the door lock assembly @ 45 deg
If and when the rain stops i will have another look and try removing the plug.......wouldn't budge last time though.
Probably end up taking the lock assembly out for a closer inspection and lube

Lubing is generally a waist of time on the D2 locks, its common for them to be intermittent then fail completely....and then lead you into a false sense of security and work again for a while.........before failing again........ You need a new one basically
 
I've Just Done this job myself, took longer than expected because I didn't realise i'd have to have the window frame out, just to change a door lock.

Easy peasy, but I need to get some bigger torx bits, instead of sticking a flathead screwdriver across the star!
