Hi Guys,

My drivers door (RHD) suddenly stopped operating via the remote. The remote still works all other doors, locking and unlocking them. The key opens and closes the driver's door, and this also works all the other doors and boot too (connected to the driver door apparently).

I read it might be something to do with the latch, but I have replaced it today (as I'm worried if it fails completely I wont be able to get in the car at all) and still have the same problem.

Any ideas?

I have ordered a new outstation just in case it's that, but cant help wondering if I am missing something simple with it only being the one door that has packed up.
thanks in advance, Steve

Changing stuff without knowing what the problem is is a very expensive way of fixing the problem. Most likely it's a broken wire between the A post and the door where it flexes. Needs diagnostics.

thanks for the quick reply. I changed the latch pdq as my passenger one went some time ago and i remember what a nightmare it was. With 2 kids and only me to get them to school, or emergencies I probably psanicked as I cant afford to be without a car. Any easy, or cheap way to diagnose wire problems? I have the software and cables for the air suspension but nothing to check problems like this.

A copy of RAVE for the wiring diagrams and an ohm meter. A Nanocom EVO for diagnostics might also help, cheaper than the scattergun approach to diagnosis:)

Thanks again. Unfortunately my working knowledge of electrics are about as good as a penguin's.

Sorry to be a pain but where can I obtain a 'Rave' manual, and what is a Nanacom?
Anywhere on the forums that I can read that will take me step by step through the process?

RAVE is a download, do a site search (Not a Google search) with the words RAVE Manuals, you could also search for door lock problems.
Nanocom is a diagnostic tool, read and clear faults on all ECU's excercise windows and locks for fault finding, live data on the engine etc. Blackbox Solutions Ltd - Designers and manufacturers of the best vehicle diagnostic tools.
If you take the door card off, you can see where the wires come through the rubber tube from the A post, you can find the other end behind the trim in the footwell.
If you put your location, there may be someone nearby willing to help.

Hi all, after giving up on ther door lock due to back problems I have now tackeld it again. I have traced the wiring from BCEM to OUTSTATION with continuity throughout. I've also tested the wires from the lock to the outstation and all have continuity. I've changed the outstation in case the fault was there, and changed the lock itself. I still havethe same problem with only the drivers door unresponsive to the remote. Any further ideas apart from a match would he hugely appreciated.

Sounds like a case for diagnostics and a scope, the lock actuator can be forced with diagnostics and a scope can be used to look for the change of state of the appropriate line.
I suppose that the motor was good in your replacement lock mechanism?
