I'm just wondering how effective this disks are compared to vented/solid disks.
When your new box arrives with shiny drilled holes they look good but are they as good is it says on the packet, excuse the pun. Like cool quicker longer lasting pads ect ect. My point is after a few thousand miles have been topped up have you noticed that the holes get clogged up?Even if not off roading And if you look closely at the holes after some time they get little chips around the drilled hole area so my conclusion is that after time they actualy caus more wear to the pads than the standard solid disks. What are your opinions on this? And yes if you got the time you could clean them out every so often , but who would want to.

I don't see the point, if your driving style means you use the brakes so hard they overheat regularly, you should be in a sports car not a two ton four-be-four.

Agreed I don't have them personally but I'm more concernd that there a wast of money unless your a racing driver.

Can't . help . myself ....

Your = possessive pronoun (as in our)

You're = abbreviation of you are

Grammar lesson over...

And not necessarily just if you're a racing driver. I had drilled discs fitted to my old Scooooby (Legacy twin turbo) and they made a huge difference. As did the four pots, which I was amused to find out are on me Defender as standard...

School mm as you can tell I was never there much to busy getting life experiences, that resulted in me being more advanced in other ways than mere grammar .

When I was racing a bike, I made up some extra wheels and bought some sets of pfm disks. The man in charge said that they only drilled them because that was what the market expected and it didn't help and made pad wear worse. He would rather have sold them plain.
But that was bikes...

Changing the subject let me guess fire blade , yam r1 or cbr 600Smile ... Is an ex biker had a few meself best was my zxr636 167 mph of pure glee smile

They looked the part, but were a bit pointless for a Land Rover  Like putting Difflock on a Nissan Micra :D

Had a few rides on a cbr but the main one was a moto guzzi, I'm afraid. Spent about 5 years and the best part of £20k getting to about the same power as a cbr600- ho hum.
Why ? You may ask....I know I do.

I guess the main reason the Land Rover has 4 pot brakes and big diameter brakes is the 3.5 tonne towing capacity.

I've put a Discovery rear axle on my 1992 Defender so it now has discs all round, as well as a Discovery 200tdi engine with a different brake vacuum pump which has made a difference. The brakes are very good, go back 20 years and most cars had rubbish brakes, so by the standard of the time they would have been fantastic :D
