ooops I posted my thread in the wrong place so i will try again. I have had my disco3 for a year now, we have just fitted a snorkel and have some AT's to put on, we have found a few local greenlanes but need help finding some good areas within reach that could be fun for a good days driving. I have tried looking online but have come to a dead end. I have been told there is one from market weighton. Any areas would be appreciated.

I have just bought two os explorer maps that cover driffield, hornsea, bridlington and market weighton but there are no +++++++ on it. Please can someone help me out with ok routes or even join us for a run out one weekend.

There is a route from Market Weighton to Bridlington. and it's clearly marked on the OS maps. It's a series of BOAT's ORPA's and ordinary roads. But if you can't find it on a map then you need to seriously consider whether you've got the necessary skills to be out leading a route on Greenlanes.

I never claimed to have any great skills to be leading anything I was just asking you all for help in finding a route that I could take, and I dont know what map you have but there are absolutely no BOAT'S on mine at all.

I bought OS explorer maps 295 and 294 I have been on some routes that are marked as ORPA'S but I want to be sure my car can be there in case I get grief from ramblers. I even went to the council to see the rights of way officer, he wasnt in and the woman who was in told me yes there are greenlanes around that I could go on but no she wasnt going to tell me them because she has a horse and is fed up of being swamped by people in their cars. I dont want confrontations I just want to feel confident in where Im going so i can enjoy myself instead of feeling uneasy.

I know you all think Im a newbie thats just going to go churn up your lanes and thank no one for the help you have given me but its not like that at all. Im very gratefull for all the advice you have given me and I appreciate your concerns about whether I should be out there in the first place. I have been doing my own leg work and trying my best to find places I could go, and I will continue to do so. Thankyou anyway, Il keep looking.

Don't go alone;)

We dont particularly want to go on our own but we have asked on this and the disco3 site and no one wants to show us anywhere. We never go anywhere that looks bad if it gets tricky we go back. and yes im sure we could think of something to do while help arrived. :D

Keep your eyes on this section. It's not that nobody wants to show you it's a case of you just needing to be patient until someone nearby is ready to go out. Unfortunately work, repairing landys, family commitments etc also have to be undertaken so as much as we'd like to be out every weekend it just doesn't happen.

When a thread pops up that takes your fancy just stick yer name down. Most peeps on here are happy to let newbies tag along.:)

Try Hull4x4.com they have a once monthly Glass Meeting & Someone there will happily mark the legal rights of way on your maps and advise you as to which routes are suitable. They also run a regular series of laning trips as well as P&P site visits.. Meeting is held in Victoria Tavern at the Morrisons in Beverley 2nd Tues of the Month (IIRC)

Like ratty said, keep an eye on the section and when someone's going out they'll probably announce it and ask if anyone wants to come along, so just pop your name down. I'd be happy to take newbies along, have done many times (see Doncaster/Maltby threads) and will do again ... when my Disco is fixed and I get time!!

;)

Thankyou all very much and I know about family commitments as I have four kids, and my landy has just had loads done to it so i was without it for a week :frown: I will keep an eye open and sorry if it seemed i was being impatient.

What a tosser. Was that a council employee?horses have less right to the byways as they dont pay tax.The useless things are only good in a sandwhich or tube of uhu.Go back to the ROW officer and ask em hweres availible then you can cross check them with ya maps and find out where ya was going wrong.
