DreadedDisco Spider

Hi all
Anyone know from which VIN No the Spider was fitted to the 300tdi manual Disco.Mine is1995 And I think it doesnt have it but I dont want to take the dash apart to find out!!

As a general rule, if you have 2 buttons on your remote fob then you have the spider. If you have 1 button you dont have the spider.

not 100% this is right. i have took the dash apart, found no spider and have 2 buttons on my remote. my disco is 96 auto 300tdi.

Iv just purchased a 1996 300Tdi.... whats this spider that you speak of?

The spider is part of the alarm system which immobilises the fuel pump and starting system. It is a small black box which on 2 button key fob discos sits above the heater matrix. Eventually the heat from the heater deteriorates the soldered joints in the spider and out of the blue the starter moter won't work or the engine cuts out when you are bombing along.

Has anyine git an old spider or shorting plug i can scrounge?
