Change the engine fluid & filters as well. If there's no warnings about gearbox " Tran Safe" " Trans fail " then it sounds like just a servicing problem.

I would be plugging it into a decent diagnostic tool as if it's gone into transmission overhear strategy and holding onto gears then I would think it would show as a fault the same as if the engine is down on power and struggling to get up a hill

I am pretty sure engine fuel system good BUT I will change filters and check fuel system JUSt IN CASE. Wont harm it!!

Yes I agree I need to plug it in to a diagnostic tool that can give me good information.
I am based in Newquay. Maybe someone nearby ? has a tool and time to donate for beer donations to do a diagnostic for / with me?

On the lzir map there is not much diag down that way, but there may still be someone who can help.

HI,

I checked oil level - correct level. checked at 40 degree C and engine running. I dropped the pan, found some very fine debris suspended in oil ( aluminium) and a very few small metalic bits on magnet. Changed the filter for a new original one. Refilled with Dexron V1.
Still same problem. BUT - i think previous owner had change oil before selling? Bolts new , gasket new etc etc.
Well worth doing this.

Does ANYONE anywhere have a good quality diagnostic tool and know how to use it and show me what is finds etc. I am more than willing to pay someone rather than take it it to garage I do not know.

I used V1 (six)
I read on here GM specify six?
Hope I read and understood it correctly

I read V1 as Version 1.....
Damn the Romans!

Roman six is VI not V1 that goes bang when the engine stops.
