Hi
Have a 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 automatic. 11800 miles
The problem is a hesitation when pulling away and the box changes from 1st to 2nd, almost like the brakes have been applied. This is with a steady throttle and is very intermittent. It is accompanied by a strange double mechanical slipping noise. Sorry can’t be more specific but wife and I both couldn’t think how else to describe it.
Icarsoft shows a p0741-00 code which has returned even when cleared. I must add that this code doesn’t come up after the hesitation but when I am driving and get the dreaded money beep!
Local garage changed the oil but no better.
Haldex was recently serviced by Bell Engineering.
Symptoms don’t go away after disconnecting haldex by removing fuse in boot.
Any suggestions?
David

P0741 refers to torque convertor.
Did it have this fault before going in the garage?

Hi, yes it did. None of the local garages are interested in it - too much hassle. Had the gearbox oil change as no record of it having been done before but to no avail.
The problem is intermittent but always around 1800rpm between 1st and 2nd when it occurs.
Asked the garage about checking gearbox solenoids but met with a blank face and a ‘we don’t do car electrics’.
Any suggestions are warmly welcomed.

Yer average garage won't take auto gear boxes apart. They may change them. An auto specialist is normally needed. They will know how to do the pressure checks etc.

I thank you for your support me lord ,much appreciated.

Anyone have any recommendations for auto specialists in the Cumbria area that they can recommend? Big ask and big area but unfortunately I live in the back of beyond!

Unfortunately, the average garage around here doesn’t even do normal clutches any more let alone automatic repairs. They only do mot repairs and general maintenance now as no money in bigger repairs so won’t tie up the time or space anymore. Anything else is usually main dealer who are very expensive.
