bought a freelander Td4 a couple of weeks ago, started it yesterday and fuel started leaking out. Having looked through various feeds, it's seems pretty common for the Bosch fuel pump to leak, I've ordered a seal kit but I'm a bit dubious about doing it myself. Is there anyone local to Wimborne Dorest that anyone could recommend at a decent price. I have put out some feelers for some quotes at local a Landrover garage and a Bosch service centre, just awaiting prices. Cheers.

I presume you are talking about the High Pressure Fuel Pump at the front of the engine, and not the one in the wheel arch ? If it is the one at the front then it is most likely just the regulator O-rings that have failed quite an easy job to do, if the wheel arch fuel again easy to do but wheel as to come off, arch liner peeled back and you will the the fuel pump and its connections which are mostly push fit.

Brill pictures. Yep that's the one, the Bosch high pressure pump. Have been reading all the feeds and seems pretty straight forward.
Most say is pretty much a case of inlet manifold off, engine mount off, remove pipes and electrical connectors, remove blanking plug (17mm Allen head) use special tool and remove pump. Overhaul and refit.
Is that a pretty fair summary? I have read that there's no need to remove the starter?
Thanks for your help, appreciated.

If you are only going to change the regulator O-rings you just need to remove the manifold, starter motor, and that should give you enough access to the regulator two 27 torx bolts and it will come off, you do need to unplug the wiring connector first though. Job should take no longer that an hour, if you are going to remove the pump then you need the special tool, the engine would need jacking up etc the job then becomes a few hours.
