dreaded abs light

Hi, previous owner took out abs bulb and also messed with relays as one is missing and wiring is cut and joined to another. Light is on constantly with bulb inserted now. ABS seems to be working although sonetimes on startup braking is ineffective with judgering for a few seconds before brakes bite. Blink fault code is 2-7 which equates to "in system relay- when ignition is off the ECU supply is constant" or with Wabco "break in wiring". Now I know I have said ther is a relay missing and joined wiring so both fault diagnostics are plausible but I can't access new relay for a few days and would appreciate if anyone has experience on this as I am concerned that it may be larger problem leading previous owner to taking out bulb (mind you he also took out thermostat and once I replaced it there was a significant improvement in performance so he or his mechanic was a bit of a muppet). My worry is that it may be a abs unit problem and I would need to source part soon for test due. Cheers.

Just a thought, but when my wife's car Dora was playing up with the abs, and sometimes affecting the braking in a way that you describe, I disconnected the main electrical connector on the pump itself. Black plug if I recall correctly.

The result of this was that I now had std un-abs brakes which were consistent and felt safer. It also passed a Contrôle Technique (French mot) immediately afterwards.
