I fitted a new 540cca battery to my Disco in late December.
Not really big enough and arranged a swop for a 630cca battery through my supplier.
They phoned afterwards to say that the first battery was tested and showed
"DRAINED DOWN" suggesting something is using power. I had a 15 mile run to the suppliers and would think that such a run should boost the battery.
Only thing that is live is my immobiliser and assume this uses little power.
Anybody any ideas if anything else on the Disco could pull down the battery?

thanks in advance

that could do it. glow plugs starting all take it out of the battery.
if the battery wan't FULLY charged when it was fitted it would never fully charge with a vehicles charging system. you will need to bench charge the battery. how are they testing it? sounds like a modern tester which are crap, the old way is better.

you can also just check the charging system on the car,
start engine, turn on lights (main beam) heated screen etc, bring engine revs up to around 1200rpm and check voltage at battery, should read around the 13v mark. this will show the alternator can cope with the load on the car and still charge the battery.
but an alternator will never fully charge a low or flat battery, it's the nature of the regulator.

Thanks for the reply.
The battery was fully charged when fitted, made and supplied by a battery manufacturer in Glasgow. Been supplying batteries to my old company for 30+ years .Also, possibly i am not doing enough running at present. Retired and don't use the car every day, and if it is raining use the car for my morning paper, round trip about 1 mile and then not used again for sometimes a couple of days. Have bought a solar powered charger to keep battery topped up but we have had little or no sunshine for a few weeks. Will do the check as suggested.
thanks again
