down in the bumps

hi all,, thought i'd join this helpfull looking site, had my p38 dse for a week know and me and the other half love it,we have had nearly all the jap gear fourtrack, patrol,landcruiser,all arguably more reliable but none make you feel like prince charles like the p38 does,maybe a tad underpowered but feels like my favourite pair of jeans. :doh: this morning i hop in looking forward to wafting to work and the truck is sitting really low on one corner so i sat in her let her warm up and she is still down i that corner i had to try and get to work but after about 1/4 mile turned home, cos she feels rank, anyhow theres no warning message on dash did'nt hear three bongs, so i've ordered 4 new dunlops of ebay £229 (bargain i thourght here on monday hopefully?),i'm gonna do them with a mate cos i'm poor after buying her,but i'm a bit worried does anyone think she will need an ecu reset before that corner will inflate again or am i worried about nothing. any help would be really appreciated.

:welcome2:Seeing as you've just bought a P38 you'd better have a look through the Range Rover section, you'll probably be visiting there quite a bit as P38's ain't got the best reputation for reliability ... tis a shame cos' they are lovely motor's

hi dewin,thanks for saying hello, lots of niggles it would seem, pity bmw didnt have a bit more to do with the p38, but beleive me toyota bits make rangy bits look like peanuts and they use twice as much diesel so you got more money for bits.

Been there too, our slitty (jap import) was very reliable but as you said the cost of part's when they needed changing was enough to scare the bank manager Got a Disco as soon as the head gasket went, best thing we've ever done.

if you have a look in the rangy section you wil find the answer to your very common problem

hi thanks for your replies, just posted ''new boy air spring wrestling'' cant get the rears off they seem to be held on by cat s@!t, did'nt help the only place i can do them is on a boggy boat yard,so i'm looking foward to all the disco owners taking the p@$% ,i did think about one but i cant weld so i could'nt keep up with there appetite for boot floors and inner sills!

:hysterically_laughi oh dear, if you're not having to sort summat out on the P38 every other week I'd be shocked, get welding sorted on a Disco and they're good for another 15 year's

sorry dewen,didnt mean to offend you with my tin worm comment,i should shut my mouth cos i take it your able to drive your truck today, i am not .your probably right a couple of years of owning one of these and you should be a qualified range rover technician.anyhow when it dries a bit (fed up with laying in the mud) gonna smash the rear sacks off,then perhaps i can get another 7 days of driving her before something else breaks.on the plus side diesel bill gone from £120 a week in the landcruiser to £60 for the week the rangey actually worked,and £000 this week cos the ba£$%!£$ cant go anywhere.

Bloomin eck don't worry, absolutely no offence taken, we dish out worse than that on this forum mostly to Freelander owners all part of the fun in taking the mick out of each other, we need a sense of humour keeping these landy's on the road ... gd luck with the air bag's.
