Hi guys and gals, after reading through many search responses and almost 55pages of one thread I'm hoping someone can help me.
2004 Becker (harmon/kardon) single din stereo in my face lifted fl1, has a pocket underneath. Am I right in thinking I can put a double din in there?..
I know mines on standard ISO not the BMW loom. I also know il need a patch lead and a steering wheel control harness.
Now.. Will i need a double din facia plate or will I need the double din cage kit??.. (My understanding is stereo chassis is 103mm but the aperture is 113 hence why I may need the kit) And will they fit?.. Seen pics of fl1's with the pioneer da115 fitted but don't know if they were double din to start with.
Thank you very much :)

Yes

Correct

Both - facia surround as a finisher / cage holder (available from Halfords) and the cage to hold the head unit. I fitted the Alpine W235BT into this space without any difficulty.

Thanks for the reply.. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think that will fit as it needs to be bolted in behind dashboard, and the pioneer comes with its own trim panel and cage but not correct for fitting into freelander aperture. :(

Basically the cage pioneer provides won't for in place the aperture left when the stereo is taken out, a double din cage kit has to be bought which allows the pioneer unit to be bolted to the larger cage to hold it in place as opposed to it just sliding into it and clicking in place.. :)
