Hi all,I'm looking to get a set of Insa turbo Sahara 235/70/16 tyres.I am just double checking that this tyre size will fit a standard Freelander with no spacers or lift kit.I have already done a search and it says they will!!,so just want to be sure before I order them from the tyre shop.

Thanks in advance.

Surely they will hit the top spring plate, where did you read they will fit without any mods??

Yep, they will NOT fit without spacers & lift kit, or at the very least spacers/modulars

They'll hit the spring cups before they mount to the hub

Any Ideas then for good chunky tyres for the same sort of money!!?? I'm on a budget of £340 for a set of 4 and want a bit of lift with them,so whats the biggest I can fit??

Thanks again.

You may be able to fit something like 205/75 if you can get that size, it will mean going narrower to get the height though, don't think 205/80's will fit with nothing on

Check Freelaners posts in the 'what have you done to your freelander thread';)

I fitted 205/80/16s Kumho KL78s ATs (IIRC) on my old 98 L series. Everything was standard, and nothing rubbed at all. They did look a bit skinny though to me...

Are you not going to bother with the spare?

I wouldn't fancy running a smaller tyre as a spare on mine...

I got a set of five Insa Rangers (old BFG AT pattern) for about £350 fitted about two years since from Hillam Tyres in Denby Dale (bit of a trek from Taunton though... ;))

Phoned John Craddocks this morning they told me 205/80/16's will fit.I have a set of Insa turbo Sahara's going on tomorrow, thanks for all your help guys.:):):):)

5 I hope? Or good breakdown recovery in case of puncture.. ;)

Bloody annoys me when 4x4 tyres are advertised in sets of 4 as they really should know better...

Only 4 at the mo,as thats all I can afford!!.I will however buy another when funds allow and get another Triple sport alloy,as my spare is a 15" steel!!!

'Freelaner' has 205/ 80 16's on his with no mods

Depends on what tread pattern you have. I bought 30mm spacers when I found out the 205/80/16 Bronco Diamondbacks hit the springs before the wheel located on the hub on my V6. Also the aggressive pattern on my Silver Td4 wouldn't fit my Rally car when I wanted to put them on so I could get the Rally car's wheels refurbished as it too didn't have spacers. Also the more aggressive pattern rubs on full lock even though I've modified the rear of the inner arches and they've got some wear on them now.
In contrast my Cooper Discoverer ST's were fine, even though the tread was pretty deep, the shoulders aren't.
