Hi Gents, just after a bit of advice on two points for my 95 3 door 300tdi;

1./ I have a couple of problems with passenger door, frame and external window seal in poor condition and latch is knackered. I'm thinking the easiest fix is to swap the door with one in better condition from a breaker - but as mine is a 3 door I wondered if the front doors on a 5 door disco are the same size? 3 door versions not in such plentiful supply!!

2./ My dash is curling up in places and I want to fit one of the repair kits being sold on e bay to screw it back together. Just wondered if there is sufficient room to install the dash repair kit without removing the dash or windscreen to get access? I have seen a right angled screwdriver/ratchet thing for sale on line with a low profile head of around 25mm depth, so I'm hoping this might do it, but would love to hear from anyone that has installed the kit successfully?

Cheers,

Pete

Three door and five door units are the same, I believe.

It is possible to install the dash kit without removing the screen. I have done it with a struggle using a right angled screwdriver but you need to get the shortest one that you can find. It's much easier with the windscreen removed if this is on your to do list though.

You will also need a very short right angle drill with a short drill bit to put the pilot holes in the dash top for the screws. Mine came from Machine Mart if I remember correctly.

One other way is to remove the dash from the car, by doing this it will enable you to get in and have a good butchers at the bulkhead to "A" pillar area and the scuttle panel across the dash, these are well known trouble spots for random water ingress that seems un-cureable!!

When I had my Disco 1 I fitted a dash kit from Devon 4x4.
What I used was a power driver with a flexible drive.
Need the speed to get the screws to self cut through the plastic.

thanks Jim, sounds like that might be a useful addition to the tool kit anyway so will look into that!
Cheers.

Sorry to hi-jack this thread but, my dash is lifting by the windscreen, but also just above the vents on the centre section on the dash! Does any one know of a kit to fix this?

If you get and use the dash repair kit as i said in other post,There is the possibility that it may pull your dash back down a wee bit and give you a betterchance of pushing the inside back under and glue it as suggested
