I am in the process of preparing to change the door seal for my J reg 110 and have a few snags that I would appreciate any advice or info on. The current seals are the ones that are riveted to the sill channel on the vehicle, but when I bought the vehicle the previous owner said that he had got 2nd hand doors to replace the old ones as they were knackered, I am no wondering if the doors on the vehicle are the ones where the lower seal should be attached to the door, are there any part numbers stamped onto the door to confirm which door it is, or any identifying marks. I cant see any unless its behind the card. The other problem is that the existing door rubber seal is bonded to a channel rubber that fits on the door frame, the seals I got dont have this, do I need to bond the new rubber to this channel rubber?

Any info would be a great help.

Pictures would be a great help....if you compare the doors on the vehicle with the replacements wont you see a difference? No part numbers on doors.

The doors were replaced before I bought the vehicle, the seals on the sill look like the correct 'P' shaped seals, I will take some pictures and post them onto the thread.

lower seals on the doors started on 300tdi's i think, there will be some holes on the underside of the door, about ten holes on the fronts as they have pins to hold them on,the older type on the sill are best to be bonded with a rubber cement
hope this helps

Yes thanks, It seems like the doors are the older type where the seal is attached to the channel sill, once i get everything off and cleaned up I will make sure that i get the right ones and hopefully I wont have to slam the door shut afterwards like I do now.

are the 'non riveted' type just glued on? i need to do mine and actually put one on the drivers side instead of the weird foam that is there!

Dont think any are glued on. THe part that I am talking about is the full door seal that seems to be bonded to a rubber u section that fits on the door frame.
