Funny every time I research anything I find an old fred where you guys have been discussing it. :p

Did you guys fit any of these locks, how did it go ?

I've ordered one of those ebay locks for the back door, figured I wont bother with the front doors, because well for one they will be fooking ugly on the front doors, and besides. anyone wanting to nic anything in the front will just go through the windows....

Am I right ? If not feel free to say so :D

pointless, someone I knew had their empty van broken into with combination of crowbar, battery disk cutter.

If you wanted to be sneaky a hidden fuel cut off solenoid in fuel line or clutch/brake lock off valve far more worth while

Yea but then the bastids can still winch it onto a flatbed in seconds... My application is more for travelling through Africa, where I believe the thievery is more opportunist, ie smash a window and grab what you can.

Even with the handbrake on full?
Bloody hell if they are that determined you need to start thinking about another area or parking it somewhere out of sight!
Are professional gangs that prevelant these days?
I thought it was just the marquee cars that were targetted?

Anyway, has anyone thought of getting window grills fitted?
It makes your lannie look like something out of the troubles in NI but could discourage the opportunists?

TD5 defender 55 Hi, does any one know someone that can change my drivers door lock to match back door and and ignition barrel,as key does not work in door. I think maybe door may have been change sometime in the past. As only found out when I left my dog in the car and tried to turn key in door. Car locks ok on fob. 0121 Area std code
thanks Andrew

Back in the late 90s I had a golf GTi I didn't want to go missing.

The car didn't have central locking so the local car stereo place fitted central 'deadlocking' motors linked to the alarm.

Basically the motors pulled and pushed the rods inside the door but crucially locked themselves in position when locked. Any reason why this wouldn't work as well as a hasp & padlock?

Modern version seems to the scorpion electrolock:

Seems to be roundabout £100 plus fitting....

A cheaper alternative would be to fit some enfield bolts. They could be fitted inside the door frame and as long as you don't mind doing a bit of strengthening work, should look much neater.
