Today whilst washing the car I noticed the passengers door lock was not up and all the rest were .i tried with the remote but no joy so I opened it with the interior handle hit the remote and it locked as did all the other doors .I then tried to open it with the remote but it would not open (all the rest did). I took off the door card but nothing obvious .any ideas ?

It'll be the lock mechanism. Not serviceable sadly so you need a new one at around £80.

I've just done mine - it's fairly straightforward but fiddly.

if you open the door then push the catch in so its locked if you then look through the hole formed by the catch with a torch you can see a small screw turn this with a 4mm allen key 1/4 turn sometimes this works :D

Hello All, i have just had and resolved the same problem with my 300 tdi, my back passenger and tailgate door done exactly the same, button not popping up but after pulling manually they closed with remote. The problem you have is almost certainly a silly little return spring that has snapped in the mechanism. The spring is a circular one about the size of a 5 pence, these are readily available on Ebay. i bought 4 for £12, two left and two right fitting ones. You will have to take out the complete lock mechanism and will probably see half of the broken spring, which needs replacing. I hope this helps. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LANDROVER...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27c37a6595

I have the exact same problem, although my td5 2000 is LHD but its still the LH door. It will lock ok but needs to be unlocked with the key.
I asked the workshop for advice at Barretts LR in Canterbury because that was where I happened to be at the time. The guy said that it does happen but rarely, the workshop solution is to change the whole central locking actuator assembly which cost me just under £70. I still have the bit to fit because its in a list of jobs that doesn't seem to be getting any shorter at present. There may be a DIY repair possible but I haven't investigated yet. More recently the electric window on that side has failed as well but I don't think its related.
