Morning lads, just a quick one,the front exterior door handles are getting stiff to open and when you open the door the handle doesn't quite go back properly ie flush, the problem I'm thinking is with the handle it's self and not the lock,is there a quick fix or are new door handles needed, thanks again lance

Have a read of this :-
RangeRovers.net :: View topic - The definitive fix for stiff P38A door handles.
and then ignore most of it !
All you have to do is undo the torx head bolt holding the handle on and then wriggle the door handle outwards until you can see the offending lug that needs cut off - you can move it out far enough to get a pair of pliers on to it and just gently twist it sideways and it will snap off dead easy
Just make sure that the pin the mechanism hinges on is in place to begin with or removing the lug will not work - if this is the case then you will have to replace the pin too

Did my passenger front door yesterday - took nearly 3 mins start to finish and works a treat now ! :) __________________

which torx bolt is the one that holds in the lock. On mine there are 3 and I know I'll undo the wrong one and then have to strip out the door trim.Do you have a piccie?

As my passenger one is starting with this I'm keen to have a go but don't want to make what sounds like an easy job a mess (other half says I spend too much time tinkering with the P38 as it is)

Hawaii, sorry i didn't reply but haven't done mine yet as i am doing the rear airsprings and the compressor at the moment.Hope you are getting there.;)

update - monday morning

What a result!!! - did the passenfger side first and undid the upper torx bolt - found that I couldn't get the lock out enough to remove the offending part so took the risk and undid the bolt completely, put some duct tape over teh bolt so it wouldn't drop or anything. Took pliers to ffending part and a simple twist & off it came, sprayed whole assembly with WD40 & slotted lock back in and tightened up bolt - SORTED.
Decided to pre-empt it happening on the drivers side so did that as well - total time less than 1/2 hour, no cost and handles now spring back flush as they should

TOP TIP

to be honest these computer thingy's stil get teh better of me most days.

The wife has a digital camera but I wouldn't have the fainrtest idea of how to get a piccie on the forum. Do I just download them as usual then copy & paste onto a posting? or is it harder than that

Hawaii glad you got yours done mate.Did both of mine today. Must be the easiest thing i have done on the p38 yet.1 bolt each side,a wee wiggle out snap off the offending lug, lube it up and back together in a jiffy.
:D
Just did the rear airsprings and refurbed the air compressor the other dayWhat a difference,no saggy arse anymore .:high5:
