Hello @ all

OK, 3.5 V6 on a 53 plate.

It is used twice a week for about 2 miles each time. Hasn't been starting lately just makes clicking/ticking sound. Starts fine with a set of jump leads from my other car. If I try and start it on the same day after a run, its fine and starts no problem. Leave it a few days and it wont start anymore. I have been for a longer drive iea few hours and it still had the same symptoms.

Clearly the battery is draining. My guess is that the battery is knackered and isn't holding much charge and that the alarm/immo is draining it, but I am not sure so I thought I would ask here first as it might be alternator or some such.

Is there an easy way to test the current battery? I don't have a multimeter or anything like that. Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

Go for a 20 min drive and then pop into your local garage/ tyre dealer etc. They will drop test your battery (load test). They don't usually charge for this service. They make their money when they get to flog you a new one. The test takes all of about 10 seconds.

I would suggest using a battery conditioning charger whilst the vehicle is standing idle. These are used by bikers and classic car owners to maintain battery condition. The very low average mileage is not giving your battery much chance to recover after starting.

where abouts are you ? maybe someone close can come and test your battery.

Congratulations on your purchase of a hithertoo unknown prototype, I would love to see a picture of the engine bay of your 3.5 KV6. Most other KV6 drivers only have a 2.5.
