After much wrestling n developing of swear words inserted where they had no place to be
I am presented with this !
Anything glaringly obvious wrong with this picture ?
Does nowt when I pull switch.

Whats the rest of the story?
Ie original fault, diagnosis carried out so far, screeching noises, not holding etc etc.

The story....mmmmm
Bought it after it had stood for months. It has had a recon epb unit fitted that initially worked ( application count on diagnostic says 3 times lol ) then the motor stood for months with a flat battery. New battery fitted n now yellow and red flashy light. Doesn't even try n work. When I get in and insert key it says " handbrake not applied, apply handbrake " when i do that it says "handbrake fault " . Through diagnostics I can see switch commands on, off etc. Can't remember codes off hand but clutch sensor comes up as na ( its a manual ) and longitudinal accelerometer sensor giving wrong signal.
All wiring checks out at plug, haven't checked clutch sensor wire as believe that's powered by epb unit.
It seems as if it has been fitted but not plugged in to set it up, or the standing with a dead battery for so long has erased its set up
If it needs a new one, it needs a new one, just don't want to shell out 700 quid without confirming its duff.

That’s fully released.
Has it had the emergency release pulled, so now needs to relatch (thought they did it automatically) need to check files tomorrow..
But do you have any volts at the electrictrickery plug when you apply?
Has it all been adjusted (cables) correctly when it was replaced? As you asked in other Fred I think, I don’t know if they need coding to vehicle.

J

How have you checked wiring at epb itself? multimeter or a bulb, multimeters can tell lies.
Try a google as when these were new/ish there was some sort of recall where they repaired/modded the epb loom next to the suspension compressor.
Is the load/strain gauge showing a reading on your diag tool? think its located drivers side of the epb unit.
The on/off switch has quite a few wires going to it, so is not just a simple on/off switch, so maybe worth trying that as a cheap start?

Apart from that I cant really help more as mine has been good or 7 years now.
Top tip is every year adjust the handbrake shoes, every 2nd/3rd year take shoes off and clean/grease contact points.

Checked with mm and a headlight bulb for load. The force sensor is showing 61n with the brake off ( don't know if thats right or not )

All the wiring checks out at module plug. From what I can see it is still latched but yes it is released, as in not applied. Don't know if emergency release was pulled as it was like this when I got it. Going to check voltage tomorrow when switch is pulled/pushed just to confirm whats going on. Then pull discs off n have a look incase its a stuck cable/shoe.

Its the bulb I like to see as there is no disputing there is not enough power.
I am not sure on the emerg release, but would guess it only disengages the mechanics and not the electrics, ie it would try and work but not be able to as mechanics disconnected
So it looks like you are on the right albeit expensive path.

I would be tempted by a 2nd hand one over a 700 quid new one, now off for a quick look on ebay.

Obe breaker that I ahve seen resommended is gentlemenofsalvage, not sure if still about?

GOS might be better than some random ebay seller
https://www.gentlemenofsalvage.co.uk/

This guy repairs them for 125 quid, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/132651421350?hash=item1ee2a40ea6:g:JpQAAOSwIWNg-nhC

Also new I assume copy ones on ebay for 400 quid with cables etc
I have had stuff from gentleman of salvage before. The repair bloke on ebay sticks some new cogs in motor that cost 20 quid n charges 125 quid for the job.....not sure he repairs anything else on them regarding circuit board or anything.

I think it is goosed.
Doesn't seem to be anything coming out of it , communications or power ( checked the power cable to clutch sensor at the epb plug n nowt coming out. Its not communicating with other modules so pressure the circuit board is toast. It was a recon unit that has lasted 3 operations !

Do you have power going to the EPB box? If i remember the L322 (but pretty much same) has 3 live feeds, then the switch stuff.

J

Yep....all feeds going into the box check out. Lives and earths.

Checked the cab bus?
Easy to check using mm check each wire to earth, you want 2.00/2.30 volts ish, actual reading not that crucial so long as you have a reading on both wires.

I haven't checked can bus wires. It is also hard wired from what I have found which should over ride can bus if its not working.

The red brake light is flashing as soon as I stick key in but strangley I get prompt from cluster to " apply handbrake " the yellow brake light is also on but I can clear that with reader. Red light won't clear.
