Hi, i need to check the oil level in my 1998 p38 4.6. i know there is a correct way to do it but cant remember if the engine needs to be running or not?

Check the level when the engine is COLD. Apply handbrake, go slowly through the gears then put in neutral with engine idling and check the level. Checking in neutral with a hot engine & gearbox will give a false reading.

Apart from the Rovacom going tis up when I had a couple of BECM's waiting and looking a right prat in Walsall whilst the guy was sitting there waiting for me to do it and having a belly full of Ouzo during the two weeks away, I'm doing great!!

Rovacom replaced with a Faultmate (I've got a blue long one now-must be gettin cold) and my system is drying out. Gotta get out for a couple of pints of the black stuff in about half an hour.
Met a guy in Naas today with a P38 DSE who told me that he had just paid a stealer over here €2200 for two rear air springs to be replaced and an EAS calibration afterwards...I'm in the wrong game.
