Ok so I've just got back from a trip to england my LR's been stationery for 10 days started up first time, but the battery light doesnt go out. So I pop the hood and get the volt meter on the battery and alternater and see that its only puting out 11.7 volts, so time for a new alternator. I was wondering has anyone installed a higher amped alternator to the 200tdi. I live in Norway so have been thinking about installing an extra battery and now am wondering if I should up the amps on the alternater so I can install more powerfull batterys too. Anyone have any experience with this or in fact where is good to get a replacement alternater. Thanks Jim

chainging the regulater sounds like a good idea. The parts that you need are easy to source?

I would just get a used one from a scrappy but LR's are rare here in Norway so finding used bits is tough. A part x Lucas unit from the cheapest parts supplier is a wopping 280 quid plus tax! I have genuinly changed engines for less!

U have mora alternatives though , cheaper :LAND ROVER 200TDI alternator on eBay (end time 28-Oct-10 20:08:02 BST)

or not so cheap but less than 280 quid LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 200TDI 92-94 100A ALTERNATOR A916 on eBay (end time 22-Nov-10 10:38:20 GMT)

as far as i know this one works for 200tdi too Land Rover Discovery 300 TDI Alternator - 100 Amp* New* on eBay (end time 06-Nov-10 21:36:45 GMT)

anyway forget norwegian suppliers .....order from UK LR online stores, shipping is between 17 and 25 pounds up to 30kg packages....or ebay aswell
