nice little water feature for the garden pond he's got there!

Don't get how its still running when water is coming from te exshaust.

Pass, i dunt know either.

Only thing i can think of is its getting sucked in at the manifold or a join and getting blown out tuther end?

done mine up to the turbo, working on its under pressure after that, and if im not getting boost leaks out under 18PSI, water isnt getting in,
That said, mines more there for a just in case rather than looking for it, for the cost, Id rather have it and not need it..

Well I bought my disco and had it at a few pay n plays in water iver bonnet ect not sitting it it but push through

, I found holes in the airbox with no airfilter and loads off muck in the airbox how it didnt drown I dont know
The other day I found a hold in the intake pipe which looks like a breather pipe should be there :s

+1, waste of time having one if it ain't sealed and don't work when required..;)

rubbish. I don't think any company makes a water tight snorkel for the D3, they are only raised air intakes. Exactly what i required for Morocco, allows cleaner air from higher up to be sucked in, rather than the dusty air lower down, how on earth is that a waste of time???

When it comes to water, i hit a deep puddle at the weekend laning, water washed over the bonnet and the wing level air intake, i'm happy that the snorkel will assist with situations like this, but, if i ended up in deeper water i would kill the engine straight away, if i was in my series at £400 for a new 200tdi engine i'd be fine, but, at £4000 + for a new TDV6 engine i'm not risking it!

Had a snorkel on my first defender, but haven't on this one. It was just too tempting to take a chance.
It was well sealed because it didn't die when I went wading with water up to the bonnet.
With the td5 I have now , the position of the ecu etc means I don't go any deeper than a couple of feet max, and if I had a well fitted snorkel I might be tempted too.

I haven't bothered with a snorkel on my 110. If the water is deep enough to get sucked into the engine, the dizzy will already be under water and the engine will have stopped. Having said that, I regularly drive through water up to 3 ft deep without any problems other than wet feet.

My snorkel is fitted and sealed with rtv, still haven't been brave enough to test it too deep though. Planning to remove the pipe that goes to turbo, raise it up high, then see fill the snorkel with water to see if there are any leaks :) easy to drain, just lower the pipe and remove the rest of the water from the airbox.
Still got the gearbox and transfer box breathers to extend too

Don't have one on the Disco.

Had on on the SIII, tested it by covering the intake up bit by bit (used something rigid, and too big to go down the hole) at tickover until it conked out. THEN I trusted it.

If it had failed, it would have been removed because if I've got one, I'm going to use it.

No, Didnt fit mine it came with the vehicle.

Was thinking though... is there a drain plug underneath the airbox somewhere? I have a Safari snorkel fitted and was thinking about water (from our sideways rain ) collecting in the airbox.

Edit - have no plans to take it in deep water at all, was more concerned with a build of water being blown through, normal driving etc

I dont know what sort of motor you have got, but all the landies I have had used a dump valve on the bottom of the air box. Its like a black rubber tit wit a split in, and is meant to be airtight, but to let out splashes of water, or condensation which forms in the airbox.

Ah ok, will have a look when next under the bonnet, its a 200tdi.

What about the G4 Discovery 3's, ain't they got a waterproof snorkel fitted rather than a unsealed raised air intake?
