As I've nearly finished welding all the rust back together on my 300TDi 110 csw my thoughts are turning to all the other bits and pieces that need doing.

Can anyone answer the following:

Brake mud guards/shields - the rear ones are knackered and I can't seem to find replacements - are these neccesary for the MOT? and if not will I get problems if I remove them?

Self levelling unit - looks fecked. I assume I can remove and throw away as the landy already has HD springs. Would I need to modify the A frame to a non self levelling version or keep as is.?

Same applies to the rear anti roll bar set up - but as this, and the links/bushes are in good condition I think I'll keep it

Any help would be appreciated - this is my first defender

Cheers

definately keep roll bars get rid of brake mud shields only serve to trap mud and stones, you can remove self leveller and use standard ball join bracket bolts between arms, mot wise if its fitted it should work

Thanks for that James

The self levelling unit is for the bin - what I'll be left with is the 'fulcrum bracket' at the apex of the A frame that connects to the ball joint - with a sticky out bit that does nothing - this would be OK?

entirely dependent on your tester, some say if it was fitted should still be and working. others arent bothered as long as what is there is good.perhaps you may be better sourceing a frame off non self leveller to be certain
