Seen these around for ages.
I'm a big believer in making stuff yourself instead of spending ridiculous RRPs for stuff. The discovery snorkels are as good an example of this as any. For what is essentially a length of plastic pipe, a snorkel top, and some bendy hose/ plastic moulding (and assorted bracketry), manufacturers want over 150 quid. Well that doesn't make sense to me.
I'm sure those who have forked out the money for a snorkel will say that they're worth the extra price, because they fit better, stand up to bashing better, but what is the actual truth? I'm never going to do anything other than greenlaning and atleast if it does get ripped off, it costs me only a small amount to replace.
I've bought myself a snorkel top, so the plan is, to have some flexible pipe running from the air box into the wing, and up towards the A-pillar, then have a decent grade plastic pipe running up the pillar, and jubillee clip & seal the lot together. Then make some simple brackets to attach the outside bits to the disco. (Sounds so simple in theory).
Anybody written a guide for this, or got any handy measurements or tips, before I start butchering my discos wing next week? lol
