Hand book is Italian language but zero message anyway. :( plus display is dead. So I'm guessing the words.

Thanks for the advice, it could be "OPEN" so I will check all doors. :)

Great! Thanks!

OPERATION

Headlamp DelayThe LCM controls a headlamp delay function which illuminates the driveway after leaving the vehicle. The headlamp
delay will operate on dipped beam headlamps only regardless of the position of the column stalk switch.

The delay is operated when the ignition is switched off and the key removed with the headlamps switched on. The
message centre displays a 'HEADLIGHTS ON' message accompanied by a chime from the sounder. When the light
control switch is moved to the 'off' position, the message centre displays a 'HEADLIGHT DELAY' message and the
dip beam headlamps are activated for a period of approximately 45 seconds. After the delay period, the LCM
automatically switches off the delay function, extinguishing the headlamps.

I am lucky i have working everything including the very dated sat nav and cassette player. Iv been playing some of my dads n mine old tapes in the car much to every ones amusement.

I also have a parret kit fitted by the previous owner........but just like in my p38 once i fitted the android i wished i had done it sooner.

Will proberly fit one of these in the summer. Just check if you need the extra lead to connect to the original amp or not
Necropost time. I'm hopefully on the final straight with the Golden Girl. As the original display can't be repaired, my thought is update. I tried the link above , but it now just takes me to the generic , car radio , page.
Don't suppose you remember make or model @biketeacherdave
Thanks

Is the screen backlit but blank? Seems common but I’m sure you know all about fuse 49/amp connectors damp/battery disconnect etc?

repair videos

Hi matey. Yep it's backlit but no amount of fuse removal, battery disconnect, worked. The connectors are relatively unscathed, as I put in the Land Rover damp rememdy , even before any issues arose. Read about it on here, carried out immediately ;)

So I'm going with an update. The Golden Girl will hopefully be with me for many years to come. I've tried to keep her as near to standard as possible but, if in 10 or 20yrs, she survives to go to someone else, they can put a standard head unit in. If they so wish. There comes a point, when enough, is enough. I need her back, and it can't be held up for the sake of a head unit. Sad, but, there it is :(

Replacements are available (£50-100) but don’t do that unless you are sure it’s the screen itself

Did that. The screen that I got has same fault. Got guys to check connectors , which is why I know it's the head. So new unit. If new, upgrade unit doesn't fix it, I will sell it on, and have old screen put back in. Everything works, just can't see anything. I can't faff about for a stereo. She's been gone since 17th August, this needs to be over.
So if an upgrade doesn't solve it, then game over. She comes home. Whilst a fully working stereo would be nice, I have bigger priorities.
